Former chancellor Rachel Reeves has said she believes Britain should rejoin the EU as Brexit has made the country “poorer, weaker and less secure”.

Brexit can no longer be the unspeakable subject.

Badenoch and Farage don’t want
us to talk about Brexit because it’s a shitshow. Their shitshow. They don’t want to be held responsible for the damage they’ve done or face up to how to fix it.
They talk about “Brexit betrayal” but the betrayal is Brexit itself.

Another welcome injection of reality on the whole Brexit farce. And also good to be finally talking about the ruinous mess it’s made, in a world that’s moved on without us and become more predictably dangerous too. But this does make those Labour red lines seem very stupid indeed.

🎯 Alistair Campbell: "Brexit has taken 6-8% out of our economy, if we had not left, the Chancellor today would have had £90 billion more to spend. He could have doubled the defence budget."

She just described 5 million EU citizens getting the right to stay after Brexit as a "consequence" of Brexit. As if they hadn't been living here, with families, and jobs, studying. Disgusting language.

Rachel Reeves, "If you're remotely serious about growth, then you've got to make Brexit work"

RR spent two years in opposition campaigning to make Brexit work.

And then another two years as Chancellor, making Brexit work.

Both Starmer and Reeves have been talking about the damage done by Brexit and of course the bashers out in force. Why didn't they say this before blah, blah, blah. They did, the most recent was Starmer in December 2025 and Reeves in May this year. The ill informed are so bloody tedious.

Agreed. It's time to take us back where we belong: at the heart of Europe.❤️

Reeves backing Rejoin is very striking, she was far more Eurosceptic a few years ago.

Something remarkable is happening.

Britain is rediscovering that being European isn't a betrayal of being British.

It's part of who we are.

Our friendships. Our families. Our history. Our ambitions.

We don't have to choose between loving Britain and loving Europe.

We never did.
