Rants. Mostly rants about product design. And praise. Praise of content design and content strategy. UX writing is cool too.
You have no idea what type of amazing designs never become reality just because of technical debt.

This is fine. The world hasn't learned how to communicate properly via digital channels. Yet, we're teaching AI how to deliver words instead of people. This is definitely fine.

#UXDesigner – a person who will, from scratch, resolve a problem that dozens of other designers have already solved.

Why #UXWriting fails. Reason 23456. Two characters. The perfect label is too long to fit under the icon. Shorten it so that it fits. Character count, not semantics, fool!

After spending almost 20 years in #UX – if I were to sum up the top features of a UX designer, overgrown ego, selfishness, and lack of empathy (in real life) would be the three I encounter nonstop.

Has the world stopped celebrating new music, new albums, new releases? Music has been pushed to the background instead of being the focal point of existence. What a shame. 🤷

#AI is not taking your job. It's people who are firing you. Other human beings are deciding to make you not needed.

A morning thought. As a #UXWriting content strategist, do I need to be part of all UX work? Or do I only drive towards this as a #neurodivergent person (seeking dopamine)?

Sometimes, we'd rather be called content designers than UX writers. And it's political. We'll clutch at straws to get a seat at the table. If such political decisions are needed, it means gatekeeping, condescension, and culture problems are at play. This is super sad, as titles don't really matter.

How is #AI changing the way I work? I can't use dashes anymore! If I do, I'm instantly suspected of generating my texts or responses. Video killed the radio star. GPTs killed the punctuation.

Did you know ...

* Emojis are like another set of rules; a new language to learn for autistic people,

* Websites in panels are tricky to read for dyslexic people,

* Including a sign language video is far better than a transcript for deafblind people.

When I ask people in my workshops how many follow what happens with the product after release, not many respond. They usually don't know how their content performs. But everyone checks their social media posts for likes. I'm astonished.

The dissonance between content design and development is the nature of both domains. Coders push for automation and generalization, while content people propel personalization, precision, and granulation. Organizations unaware of content value will always promote the development perspective.

A wicked thought. What if AI-driven products use AI and deliver value to their users? A trivial example is job platforms. They could thoroughly analyze candidates and job offers and stop offering a welder position to writers, a Python developer to content strategists, or a QA engineer to designers.

Are we helpless losers? If you look at how software features are evolving, this is probably what the makers think about their users. UIs are overflowing with “generate”, “help me”, or “apply XYZ.” AI is embedded into products, but personalization challenges and classic design problems persist.

Seems like all profiles here need to have something about Trump. Coming from a country that, since 1945, has been governed pretty continually by authoritarian maniacs, I'll sip my covfefe and watch. 😉
