In light of the recent policy changes at Kickstarter, we have chosen to postpone our campaign for Monsterhearts: Welcome to Drowned Lake.

We support 18+ creators & encourage studios & devs to urge Kickstarter to revert these changes.

We urge Kickstarter to roll back these changes and stand with the adult creators who have helped Kickstarter get to where it is today. We also urge other studios and devs to speak up on this matter. Some of the biggest Kickstarters of all time have contained adult content. But no matter how big or small, freedom of speech and artistic expression are fundamental to all art. Monsterhearts: Welcome to Drowned Lake is a horror narrative deckbuilder game. It is also a proudly queer game that touches on some sexual topics. With the vague wording of the new policies, we are unsure if our game will be targeted and/or how this will affect our campaign. We also are speaking up in solidarity with the 18+ creators whose games, comics, and other projects are the main target of this ban. For all of these reasons, we have decided to postpone our Kickstarter campaign for Monsterhearts: Welcome to Drowned Lake for the time being while we wait for clarification, and see if Kickstarter will roll back its changes. In the meantime, we are looking at other possible options, such as potentially moving our campaign to BackerKit. Thank you for your understanding.

It’s not compassionate when there’s coercion.
