Congress has always had the power to shape the federal court system, and as part of that, the number of SCOTUS justices has expanded and even shrunk before.

The idea that the current setup is not only permanent but also somehow vital to our existence is just incredibly stupid.
I just listened to a panel with David French and someone from the Brennan Center vociferously argue against expanding the Court. French said it would lead to “the dissolution of the republic.” About a third of the audience applauded. We need to get a policy culture that’s willing to do what it takes

Fun to think about: Will AI Zuckerberg act more like a human person than the real thing?
“…the character is being trained on the billionaire’s mannerisms, tone and publicly available statements, as well as his own recent thinking on company strategies, so that employees might feel more connected to the founder through interactions with it.”

Look, they do not have the capacity or competence to do this at the scale they want you to fear they do, and your fear is precisely their greatest force multiplier. Everybody who is cowed into silence by their threats allows them a smaller pool to focus on.

The central problem with the "this is really scary stuff" argument is federal elected Ds not acting like it

It's why the Democratic Party polls so poorly at the moment
Larry Summers: "This is way beyond anything Nixon ever did ... this is the stuff of democracies giving way to authoritarianism. Firing statisticians goes with threatening the heads of newspapers, launching assaults on universities, launching assaults on law firms. This is really scary stuff."

Whatever Hochul has been taking for the last few months please give it to the rest of the Dems too
REPORTER: Do you think the independent redistricting commission should be disbanded?

HOCHUL: Yes. I'm tired with fighting this fight w/ my hand tied behind my back. With all due respect to the good govt groups, politics is a political process. And to think we're gonna do this with a purity test ...

I public records requested every text and email to/from evert state legislator that included the word “Rooster” between Jan. 6 and May 16.

The results were hilariously insightful.
