The neo gothic splendour that is Rochdale town hall. Hard to imagine how much money local authorities had in the 1800’s. The impressive civil structures they left behind grace most industrial towns and cities. #architecture #history

Things on hills in Lancashire No5. This will have you on”tender hooks”?Is this idiom the most incorrectly used example in the English? The tentering tower Holcombe Moor. Fabrics were held tight on frames attached with hooks to prevent shrinking. Hence being on “tenter hooks” #hiking #language

I was only nipping for a pint of milk to Aldi.Not a train buff, but a lover of engineering. I was surprised via google this beauty is only 20yrs old. A project to build a “Pacific class Peppercorn loco” not sure what all that means. But what an astounding job. #steam #trains #locomotive
