A senile delinquent.Tech,outdoor stuff,history,art,nature,bicycling,science and ALE.Yes a dull middle aged man.
Not to hot. Nice T shirt weather up on the moors. The Pennine bridal way(never seen any equestrian activity) Nice easy going route with only sheep for company. Managed to fall off(I always do).The old quarries make excellent MTB trails. #cycling #nature #pennines

The neo gothic splendour that is Rochdale town hall. Hard to imagine how much money local authorities had in the 1800’s. The impressive civil structures they left behind grace most industrial towns and cities. #architecture #history

Walking off an afternoon in the pub.Always indulge in a bit of mental time travelling. This path is shown on the earliest maps I can find. How many farmers, quarrymen, mill workers. And even ancient Britons( burial mounds nearby) walked this way? #hiking #history

Things on hills in Lancashire No5. This will have you on”tender hooks”?Is this idiom the most incorrectly used example in the English? The tentering tower Holcombe Moor. Fabrics were held tight on frames attached with hooks to prevent shrinking. Hence being on “tenter hooks” #hiking #language

Things on hills in Lancashire.No4.Pigeon Tower, Rivington Moor. The most impressive of the follies covering the overgrown gardens planted by Lord Leverhulme. Fascinating walk/cycle through the winding paths. Bridges, pagodas and Romanesque ruins of this chemical tycoon’s dream. #hiking #cycling

It sometimes feels every hill in the U.K has a monument on it.This is Peel tower built 1852.John Peel PM twice. Most notable for the repeal of the Corn laws and founding of the modern police force(hence the nickname bobbies). #hiking #history #lancashire

I was only nipping for a pint of milk to Aldi. Not a train buff, but a lover of engineering. I was surprised via google this beauty is only 20yrs old. A project to build a “Pacific class Peppercorn loco” not sure what all that means. But what an astounding job. #steam #trains #locomotive

A hazy warm 14°c afternoon up on the moors. Lots of wlkers enjoying the spring sunshine. But you can always find a quiet place in the West Pennines.Despite having a couple of million people in the surrounding towns and cities. #nature #cycling #Pennines #hiking

Remembering those who perished on this day in 1958, when a flight carrying Manchester United players, staff and journalists crashed shortly after takeoff in Munich, West Germany.

23 of the 44 people on board lost their lives. The 'Busby Babes' were an exciting young team decimated on that day.

This is middle aged man heaven. Pork n Black Pudding sausage roll in flaky pastry. Accompanied with Theakston’s Old Perculier from a wooden barrel. Slate grey skies and a damp 4°c .The perfect antidote, coupled with a log burner in the pub.

I don’t do Christmas. But a bit of brass doing carols and a steam train. Make it almost tolerable. #Christmas #steam

A grim dark December day. But feeling a little giddy. Theakstons Old Perculier in a wooden cask is settling in the cellar of my local. At 5.6% I really should get the shopping done before I partake. #realale #craftbeer #brewing #beer

In the UK, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's friendship with Epstein has led to total disgrace.

He's been stripped of his titles, reduced to the status of a pariah.

Nobody is defending him.

He's a TOTAL disgrace.

In America, Jeffrey Epstein's close mate, Donald Trump, remains the president.

Insane.

I recall some social media, tabloid nonsense about this phenomenon a few years ago. My last few rambles have been on moorland around 900m. This jelly like substance has popped up here and there. A water sodden dead puff ball appears to be the most plausible . #fungi #mushrooms #hiking #nature
