i love (/s) how everything is “illegal” if it doesn’t match the current administration’s (and cronies’) agenda. especially great seeing legitimately created policies called such in official government documentation and sites.

also, whenever fourth wing is mentioned, i have to restrain myself from jumping in with “literally been in the room when rebecca has said she wrote it as a fantasy. it got marketed as romantasy because WRITTEN BY A WOMAN AND ROMANCE IN IT despite her not presenting it as such.”

i’m also always so tempted to jump into the comments and be like “you do realize that ‘romantasy’ as a term is new and wholly made up for marketing, right? it diminishes women writers within the fantasy genre and makes this out to be new when these themes have been around for ages.”

while the parts that don’t directly impact my life are inevitable, the parts that do are out of my hands and have the potential to be worse. we shall see.

but, in the mean time, could this week and 2026 just stop? i’d like to escape the next few days with my sanity and emotions intact…

4. get your dicks out of each others mouths and read some books by women and poc authors. maybe you’ll find something you really enjoy and can relate to.

…publishing contracts. tbh, there’s a good number of them that are beating out women (and separately & non-gender specifically poc) for slots with publishing houses still and don’t write as well or as imaginatively.

it’s about finding the balance to keep the narrative moving forward at a good pace while still giving description enough for the reader to understand the world. in this case the balance is not there - i don’t need a detailed rundown of a coffee shop that doesn’t impact the story.
