Did you know? Rivers and pools with stony beds, overhanging banks and tree roots offer perfect conditions for White-clawed Crayfish to stay hidden away during the day, before re-emerging at night to forage for food.

The answer to Friday's question?... This amazing creature is actually a lobster, not a crayfish!
Despite similarities in appearance, lobsters are much larger and live in marine habitats, whereas White Clawed Crayfish are a fresh water species.
Well done if you got it right!

Did you know? White Clawed Crayfish like their water fresh and most importantly CLEAN! The goldilocks of the crayfish world, they like highly oxygenated, slightly alkaline water, with low levels of pollution and silt. 📸Judith Greaves

What a difference a Cray makes..thanks to all who joined us at YWT Adel Dam nature reserve yesterday! We had a great day surveying the white-clawed crayfish population, chatting to visitors about why this population is important, and showing off some of our claw-tastic river dwellers! 🦞
