Have you ever wondered what's on the menu for White-clawed Crayfish? As omnivores, they're not too fussy, eating a wide range of food from worms and other small invertebrates to small fish, algae and leaf litter.

Did you know? Rivers and pools with stony beds, overhanging banks and tree roots offer perfect conditions for White-clawed Crayfish to stay hidden away during the day, before re-emerging at night to forage for food.

The answer to Friday's question?... This amazing creature is actually a lobster, not a crayfish!
Despite similarities in appearance, lobsters are much larger and live in marine habitats, whereas White Clawed Crayfish are a fresh water species.

What a difference a Cray makes..thanks to all who joined us at YWT Adel Dam nature reserve yesterday! We had a great day surveying the white-clawed crayfish population, chatting to visitors about why this population is important, and showing off some of our claw-tastic river dwellers! 🦞
