You know, when you find out that the art you like is made by people you've learned hold views you find wholly repugnant, I don't think you need to disavow ever having enjoyed the art. It's okay to acknowledge you liked or loved that art, but are now putting it aside. That was then, this is now.

I have to let workmen into my apartment tomorrow and I'm had anxiety attacks and stress nightmares for days now about it. I absolutely DESPISE people in my personal space even if they would be quick. Is this another autism thingy 💀

Is this a safe place to admit that I don't care to ever sound like a native japanese speaker? I want to be good enough to be understood easily sure - but ultimately I think it's totally fine when native speakers can hear that someone is not a native speaker 😅

Here is your PSA that if you have ADHD like me (or you are neurospicy in some other capacity) listening comprehension can be really really hard in a foreign language you study. You have to do so much stuff at the same time that it can be really overwhelming to your brain.

I want you all to know that it is fine if you have to look things up when reading "difficult" books. I started the Count of Monte Cristo and I constantly have to refer to character lists because french names are hard on my brain and I keep forgetting how they relate to each other 💀

Reading The Pillow Book cause of @kyotako.bsky.social and it's really fun. We tend to think of ancient people as serious because we mostly learn of wars and other serious events and then you get an account of building snow mountains in the garden and complaining about crying babies in the night.
