I mean I’m not a fan of the marketing term “AI” either, but I’m suffuciently educated in information science to know it isn’t the A that is the problem.

There's a crowded-yet-limited anti-AI market. The book story was their only real breakthrough in recent times, it must feel like they have to double down at this point.

Sorta like university Administrators who haven't taught a class of their own in years, even decades, but assume they know what learning strategies are effective.
Again: AI is a technology but it's also an ideology; that ideology is Bossism; neither bosses nor AI advocates really understand what most people do in their jobs so both assume AI can do it.
They're *trying* but if these tools could replace jobs beyond Junior Software Developer, we'd know.

It’s also really clear to me this week that the people telling us that AI will transform work…haven’t seen a lot of jobs where people work.

Interesting results from first student poll on AI, this is a second year "AI and the Law" class. Small class (optional module capped at 25 students). Unsurprisingly, mostly positive or indifferent to AI, self-selection bias.

'How about discipline/subject-based collaboration that researches, tests and implements viable learning, teaching and assessment policies for taught students in the AI age?
Surely an area where instead of competing we should be collaborating for best practice not just regionally but across the UK.

😂😂😂Yes, whenever I see students with their headsets on watching their computers, I know the technology is enormously effective...at holding their attention. What it's doing to them is another thing altogether.
