“.. AI companies are privately gaming out scenarios for a public and political revolt after a catastrophic AI event .. most likely a cyberattack, that shuts down access to financial services, internet connectivity, or even power and water.”

"The artificial thinking of AI is a pale imitation of genuine thought. When we let machines generate words on our behalf, we miss out on the joy of thought."

Thinking requires mindful attention. To think is to care, and to pay attention. Genuine thought requires interest, engagement, and concern.

AI is a vehicle for disinformation, a vector exploited for that purpose in ways that don't seem at all surprising once you've read about it.

"La casa blanca considera que quien use el término 'inteligencia artificial es EL ENEMIGO. Donald J. Trump".

La normalización de tener un perturbado perverso gobernando el mundo (y el asco moral que produce ver cómo tantos se someten vilmente a su humillación).

Trump: Anyone saying "AI" is "THE ENEMY!" The White House uses it
Trump's own White House still uses "AI" as a term.

What is misleading about the term “artificial intelligence” is not the word artificial but the word intelligence. I guess that makes me “THE ENEMY.”

One of the handful of articles telling it like it is instead of misinforming the public. By @saragoud.bsky.social for @thebulletin.org

Yes. Its bad science based on numbers out of various behinds, but that's not how most of the rest of the media is discussing it.

How the bad science of AI doomerism is good for big business
There is no clear path showing that today’s AI systems will lead to superintelligence, much less a basis for calculating the probability of doom.

There is already a "Super Intelligence" University computing consortium in the south/sun/bible belt. Red state public R1s like mine are falling over themselves to join the "SI" consortium
Related news: I reviewed emails received yesterday by two federal agencies—SEC and NIH—instructing them to update all internal and public materials to say "super intelligence" instead of "artificial intelligence" in order to comply with Trump's executive order.
Trump's pushing the term "super intelligence" is stupid for many reasons (not least because "superintelligence" was already a term with a specific meaning in semi-technical and policy/philosophical discussions about AI). But now his bullying about it is reaching an Orwellian pitch.
