The documentary “NAZA,” built around Israeli soldiers’ accounts of Palestinian deaths in Gaza, drew criticism from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after a standing ovation at Venice.

“Almost three years into this genocide, nobody can credibly claim they do not know what is happening in Gaza. Palestinians have documented and shared the reality of their lives every day. Evidence of ongoing Israeli atrocities is visible to the world.“
The ceasefire myth: What Gaza has endured over the past year

How do human beings explain taking part in genocide? NAZA provides a chilling look | Omer Bartov
It’s easier to blame brutes and sadists for extreme violence. But as we see in the documentary, modern genocides are fueled by people who are uncomfortably recognizable

This reposting of my article from 2025 reminds us that recognition of Israel’s genocide has been a strong consensus for well over a year now—which explains Israel’s systematic campaign to discredit the view and provide cover for its atrocities.
From the archives: The dam of Gaza genocide denial has well and truly broken. While Israel’s supporters in the West still reject the charge, many media outlets are coming off the fence. Genocide scholar @martinshaw.bsky.social reflects on the shift.
The Dam of Gaza Genocide Denial Has Broken
Several prominent media outlets are coming off the fence over Israel’s actions, but a conspiracy of helplessness still prevails

Most people contesting the definition today are also denying that Israel has committed huge systematic atrocities—honest debate about definition has been replaced by a campaign to defuse criticism of Israel. And although the ICJ made a meal of ‘intent’ over Bosnia, it did find genocide at Srebrenica
