Why Trump’s Russian Diesel Deal Is Unlikely to Lower Fuel Costs
President Trump’s deal with Russia will probably not lower diesel prices that have soared because of his war with Iran and Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries.

By framing diesel prices as a national security crisis and promulgating an agreement that on its face doesn’t release a lot of diesel to market the path is cleared for POTUS to suspend Graham sanctions …
Putin's envoy Dmitriev said that the agreement to supply Russian diesel to the U.S. "opens the door to new joint projects."

Moscow is already discussing other areas of economic cooperation with Washington, he said.

There should be more discussion of the serious damage the Trump-Netanyahu war with Iran has done to poor countries which cannot afford the sharp rise in energy prices the war has caused

Did everyone notice yesterday that the president admitted the entire "Russian diesel deal" thing is complete bullshit, none of the fuel is actually coming to the U.S. and obviously never was, and with a minimum of 40% of Russian refining capacity offline it probably does not exist at all.
Doocy: "There are some Republicans in the Senate who are upset about this diesel deal."

Trump: "That's a diesel deal that's going to be released into the world…They're not releasing that to us, they're releasing that to the entire world."

One of my pet theories is that we're going to see combined and uneven development of green technologies. The world is going to be entirely off of fossil fuels while the United States is going to be this weird backwards thing where you can buy cars that are powered by lighting barrels of oil on fire.
boy Trump fucked the American auto industry. first he yanks their EV subsidies, leading them to slash production and write off tens of billions in investment, then he jacks up the price of oil by 50%, leading to skyrocketing EV demand going almost entirely to China bc GM et al left the market
