Haaland and Vinícius meet again

Brazil and Norway met in the World Cup last 16 in New York, with a quarterfinal place at stake and Erling Haaland facing Vinícius Júnior. Reports described the matchup as a high-profile clash between the two main attacking threats, while live accounts noted an early penalty save by Norway goalkeeper Nyland and a disallowed goal as the contest began tightly.

“You've probably seen the stats that Norway are the only team Brazil have never beaten - they have drawn twice and lost twice in four meetings since 1998.”

Bit slow here, only heard this yesterday. Extraordinary.

Brazil v Norway.

Through the Democracy World Cup lens, Norway moves forward.

Brazil brings participatory budgeting. Norway shows what happens when local government has everyday power.

One invented a democratic tool. The other makes local agency a daily operating system.

This was clearly FIFAs plan …
England's two World Cup defeats in Mexico (to Germany 1970, Argentina 1986) were midday kick-offs in Mexico, 7pm in the UK

Beat Poland, 11pm, to stay in

England played 730am UK time (330pm in Japan) to crash out of the World Cup about 915am but I don't think have ever gone out overnight before

Norway 2 Brazil 1. A deserved victory by Norway who have played Brazil FIVE times & never ever lost. Same population as Scotland who have played Brazil ELEVEN times and never ever won. #FIFAWorldCup #BRANOR

I actually stayed up to watch the Norway-Brazil match, my first of the World Cup. While everyone is going on about Braut Haaland (yes, his goals were great), the show was really all Nyland who made absolutely amazing saves. It was Nyland’s game. 🇳🇴

Norway have never lost to Brazil ever. In the World Cup. And other matches. Four meet-ups so far.
