Italy weighed suspending Schengen with Spain and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said she was considering "extraordinary measures" after mass arrivals in Ceuta, prompting Spain's foreign minister to summon Italy's ambassador.

The point is that there are further checks before travel to mainland Spain or other Schengen countries, so the scaremongering about that was nonsense.

I recall one year ago, whilst talking about all the hate towards Pedro Sanchez, a Spaniard told me that Sanchez is very resilient to attacks, almost uses them as his political elixir. Let’s see if this holds true.
