The 'other' Marwick (Ernest W., writer & folklorist) noted that Via is "pronounced Veea" & that tradition says "there was on[c]e a church here" & that the "bu'(?) was present in the flat piece of ground behind the home." 'Bu' is perhaps 'bow' 'indicating the cultivated ground' there (H. Marwick).

A note by Ernest Walker Marwick reading: 'North Via pronounced Veea. Tradition that there was on[c]e a church here. The bu' was present(?) in the flat piece of ground behind the home. Document from Orkney Archives, ref. D31/52/5/3, c. 1970.

Note: Two words are unclear 'bu' and 'present'. 'Bu' is perhaps a spelling of 'bow' 'indicating the cultivated ground in an old tunship' (Hugh Marwick, Orkney Norn) which makes the 'present' reading make sense.

Veea (VEEA) and NovaGen have signed a term sheet for a potential business combination and launch of NovaGen Health Networks, an edge AI-powered longevity and precision-health platform. GeoNova Capital has also signed a term sheet to invest an initial US$10 million in the combined company. Management, using internal projections and an independent valuation based on those projections, estimates the combined company’s value at about US$750 million, with an intended Nasdaq listing.NovaGen Health Networks will deploy in two phases starting in Q4 2026, initially providing a household health hub, digital twins and a patient-controlled records wallet, and later expanding, as clinical validation and regulatory authorizations permit, to clinician-supervised diagnostics and cellular therapy pathways. All transactions, including the merger and investment, remain subject to definitive agreements and closing conditions.

Something wakes Ed in the night - a haunting sound - a wailing, a caterwauling, a howl straight from a horror film - and he shoots up to sitting, fully awake, eyes wide as he searches for the source of it.

It’s outside, his brain is sure of that, but close. He pulls the blinds over the window beside his bed to the side and peers out just in time to see a hulking shadow - a massive, furry thing - claws - jaws - teeth - disappear out of the range of the streetlight a floor below.

Baffled, he leans forward, pressing his nose against the pane in an effort to see more, but all he can see now is a blonde head attached to a normal-looking, broad-shouldered man, arm out with a leash that must be attached to a dog who is too much in shadow for Ed to make it out, and then that too disappears out of the light. He lets the blind fall back into place and flops back against his pillow, reaching for his phone.

The screen blinds him and he nearly drops it on his forehead, but he manages to type into search, “Burnout causes hallucination?”

The blue light of his phone hurts his eyes, so after a minute of scrolling he puts down his phone on the empty pillow beside him. He stares at his dark ceiling. It was just some guy and his dog, walking at an absurdly late hour, but that’s all it was. The howl was probably a distant siren, part of some dream he can’t remember; maybe the guy has a mastiff or great dane with a spiked collar or some shit like that Ed couldn’t see. See, easy peasy explanation, Teach, go the fuck to sleep.
