I’m glad so many people have found my “capybara method” for how to write alt text and image descriptions helpful! However, I know conflicting access needs exist and not everyone can write their own #AltText, so here’s an ongoing thread of tools that can help. Inclusion in thread ≠ endorsement
An infographic titled “How To Write Alt Text” featuring a photo of a capybara. Parts of alt text are divided by color, including identify who, expression, description, colour, and interesting features. The finished description reads “A capybara looking relaxed in a hot spa. Yellow yuzu fruits are floating in the water, and one is balanced on the top of the capybara’s head.” Credit to Puzzle agency, original information from Veronica With Four Eyes and veroniiiica dot com

RIP Jesus Dolly Parton

#AltText : Hollywood REPORTER cover with a picture of Dolly Parton saying:
"I've got transgender people. I've got gays. I've got lesbians. I've got drunks. I've got drug addicts — all within my own family. I know and love them all, and I do not judge."

Amen.

this is what it's like to advertise ur commissions
"Baby in pelican mouth" meme from tumblr user maverick.ornithography but every instance of baby is "oc" (Or original character) and every instance of pelican is replaced with "Artist". The pelican's mouth is full of different tablet pens. The picture is an attempt from an artist to solicit commissions through humor and relatability. Artists typically live on a below-wage salary selling their work online and work long hours creating content against many odds including hostile algorithms, competitive market, and overall global economy.

I love how this city feels, like it’s from another universe during sunrise.

#photography #urban #moody #scotland #edinburgh #alttext
A dramatic Edinburgh city street scene at sunrise, with the sun low on the horizon glowing brightly behind a large historic stone church or cathedral in the center of the image. The sky is filled with thick, textured clouds lit in shades of orange, gold, and dark greenish-gray, creating a moody and cinematic atmosphere. Tall buildings frame the scene on both the left and right sides, with the left side mostly in shadow and the right side showing a rounded stone corner building. In the foreground, an empty curved road and traffic lights lead the eye toward the church, along with street poles, signs, and overhead wires. The warm sunrise light reflects off the pavement and buildings, giving the whole scene a quiet, almost surreal feeling, like the city is waking up under an intense, beautiful sky.

Nellie, a tortie cat with a nose stripe, peeks out from inside a partially collapsed cardboard box, her green eyes looking directly at the camera. She is nestled among folded flaps and packing material, with stacked storage boxes and baskets in the background, giving the scene a cozy, cluttered, “cat-in-a-box” feel.

Nothing beats Buachaille Etive Mòr in a sunrise storm!

This beauty of Scottish highlands is probably my most favourite.

A dramatic, moody landscape photograph of Buachaille Etive Mòr in the Scottish Highlands during a sunrise storm. The composition is divided by extreme light and shadow. In the foreground, a dark, near-black moorland stretches across the bottom. Rising on the left is a steep hill slope, vividly illuminated in golden-orange morning light, highlighting its rugged texture, with a single utility pole standing on it. In the background, the massive, dark peak of the mountain is partially swallowed by dense, low-hanging storm clouds. The top of the frame is dominated by heavy, dark grey and black clouds, but a bright pocket of white light breaks through the center, casting an ethereal, high-contrast glow over the peak and the valley below.

A black background has white text at the top that says “amphifa.” Two flags over each other, common antifa flags, have a black flag and a green one. An image of a green frog facing left with a blue ascot sits on the black flag. Circling the flags is the text, “amphibians against fascism.”

Siren lunchtime on the sea, unsuspecting sailors are on the menu! 🤭💅
Four characters in a drawing / painting from left to right. All of the characters are the artist's matching ocs, labelled under Sirens. The art shared is a large illustration that took the artist over 18 hours. Sunni, a tan woman with blonde curly hair inspired by Marilyn Monroe, with a tube top bikini and conch shell clasp, and seashell accessories with a sun belly piercing. Her unseen Mythical form is a Golem. Marina, a brown woman with dark curly hair and fully black glossy eyes, in a wraparound two piece teal two piece cover-up with old ropes across her body and a flower clasp on her shirt. She has many fishbone and shell accessories. Her unseen Mythical form is a Kraken. Diadema, a new character & the queen of them all. She wears a long, form-fitting black dress with cleavage and hip cutouts, a white crown, and white bone-like shawl, earrings, and corset-inspired boning. She is vision impaired and disabled. Her unseen Mythical form is Phantom. Sirena, with sunset-colored water hair and white seafoam fringe. Her top and necklace are fastened with white seafoam as well. She is very Ariel-inspired. Her Mythical form is Mermaid. All women have facial markings in counts of 3, a Sand Dollar within their design, and detailed oceanic accessories. Diadema's sand dollar is cracked to symbolize her disability and chronic illness.

#mountains #lake #dusk #landscape #nature #tranquility #wilderness #alttext #scotland #highlands
A tranquil, wide-angle landscape photograph of a calm, dark loch reflecting two large mountains under a dramatic, colorful sky. In the foreground, the placid water of the loch stretches across the bottom of the frame, with a dark reflection of the surrounding mountains and sky. The loch's surface is smooth, with faint ripples near the shore. On the left side, lush, vibrant green trees and bushes fill the foreground, with thick leaves and branches. On the right, a dense stand of dark green pine trees lines the edge of the loch and extends up toward the mountains. In the middle ground, the loch narrows, bordered on both sides by these dark green trees. The background is dominated by two massive mountains. The one on the left is a steep, rugged cliff face with visible rock formations and patches of dark green moss. The one on the right is a large, rounded mountain covered in golden-brown and green grasses, illuminated by the last rays of a setting sun. The light catches the texture of the grass, creating a warm glow. The sky above is a magnificent blend of colors. The left side is a soft blue-purple with scattered clouds, while the right side is a brilliant mix of fiery orange, yellow, and deep magenta, suggesting either sunrise or sunset. Wispy clouds streak across the vibrant sky. The overall impression is one of serene, awe-inspiring natural beauty, with the dramatic sky and mountains reflected perfectly in the still water of the loch.
