Good morning. The #BirdOfTheDay theme today is #LeafandLight any bird captured in sunlight with leaves in frame. The alt is #CourtshiporConflict birds courting or squabbling. Good luck. I’ve went with a Willow Warbler in a leafy tree.
I’ve included some facts in alt.

#birds #photography #ECK
A small Willow Warbler perches on a leafy branch in bright sunlight. The bird has soft olive-brown upperparts and pale yellow underparts, with a faint pale eyebrow stripe and a fine, pointed bill. One wing is lifted and slightly extended, as if the bird is stretching or adjusting its feathers, while it balances among glossy green leaves. Its dark eye catches the light against a softly blurred natural background, giving the scene a vivid, lively feel. Summer visitor: The Willow Warbler migrates to the UK each spring from sub-Saharan Africa—an impressive long-distance traveller for such a tiny bird. • Song: Known for its beautiful, descending, melancholic song—often described as a gentle “cascade” of notes. • Very similar to the Chiffchaff, but usually has paler legs and a longer wing projection. • Diet: Mainly insects and spiders, which it gleans from leaves and branches. • Habitat: Prefers open woodland, scrub, hedgerows, and young trees—often where there’s plenty of light and undergrowth. • Population trend: Sadly declining in parts of the UK, especially in the south and east, though still common in northern and western areas. • Nesting: Builds a dome-shaped nest on the ground, well hidden in grass or low vegetation.

Mated pairs of crows rattle and coo to one another. The meaning is obvious. 'I love you.' The courtship and/or renewal of their bond includes gentle cooing, nuzzling noises, and singing softly.🖤🩶

The photo features a couple of hooded crows (Corvus cornix)perched on a concrete ledge. They are leaning forward, facing each other and using their beaks to pick at small pieces of cat food on the wall. The setting is a mix of textures. The birds stand on a rough concrete barrier. In the background, there is a vibrant, bright red corrugated wall with vertical lines that creates a strong visual contrast.

I may have shown this bright fella before, the #EclectusParrot. He provides his own light. A bit of a stunner.

#BOTD
A very green bird, with a bright orange beak peers quizzically at me as I take his photo. Under his wings you see touches of red, on the edges of his wings there is a bright blue strip. Blurred green leaves form the background. This is the Eclectus Parrot, found in the tropical rainforests in Australia. While the male is predominantly green, the female is a bright red.

Photo by Kort Duce A European starling perches briefly on a wire attached to an old concrete fence post—a remnant from another era—in Longmont, Colorado. In this horizontal color photograph, the concrete post enters near the center of the frame, with bent and twisted fence wires extending in multiple directions. In the upper right quadrant, the starling balances on the wire, poised for flight. The soft, overcast light brings out the bird’s iridescent colors beautifully. The background is a blur of tree foliage, likely from an invasive Russian olive.

Photo of 2 White-tufted Grebe. One is raised up, trying to get on top of the second, beak open, wing spread in an aggressive manner, pushing his rival under the water. White tufted grebe are predominantly black, with brown wing feathers and a beautiful triangular white cheek flare streaked with black stretching back from a stunning red eye The Camera settings were challenging in the high contrast sunlight, I set a bigger f number for a greater depth of field as the action was moving so fast, but should have upped the ISO to improve the shutter speed - most of the photos had movement blur 🙄🙄😂
