This summer wasps made a nest in our garden beside our bike stand in an old tree stump. I persuaded the family to put up with it and the wasps have finally died off. This is what it looks like now. (Wasps don’t reuse their nests) #biodiversity #speirgorm @gardeningwell.ie

After Kip passed we noticed how at peace he looked. We realised just how much pain he must have been holding in his little body, but yet he continued to do what he knew to do.

A great day on the Dublin Bird Race yesterday. 11 teams took part recording 109 species.

A decent tally given the persistent, (very wet) rain.

1st place went to ‘The Troy Parrotts’ beating favorites the “Southside Swifts”. Best name goes to “Irritable Owl Syndrome” #SpeirGorm #IrishBirding 1/2

Thanks to Heritage Council funding, digital versions of these parish registers will soon be online. And the precious records of St Luke's Douglas can move from a damp old building to a temperature-controlled archive. #Speirgorm #Ireland 🗃️

Ireland elects an independent, socialist woman to the position of president.

Irish Media: ‘Today, we ask what went wrong with the system, what her opponents have to say about it, and how it can be fixed for next time.’

Saying that it's "too hard" to get on the Irish president ballot when an independent woman got the entire Irish left to back her, got the biggest vote ever and beat two historically dominant parties is not just wrong - it is breathtakingly offensive and outrageously dishonest.

it is also extremely revealing that, a generation later, the Orange Order are still intent on marching down a road where they are unwelcome. they have learnt nothing, they have matured not a jot, every day of peace and tranquility has been entirely wasted on them #garvaghy #drumcree #speirgorm
How on earth did the Parades Commission think that allow this parade after 28 years of peace and quiet, would be a good idea? the mind boggles at the sheer incompetence

The love I have received since posting that we had to let Puppers go has been incredible . There has been not one negative comment.

In my grief you have all made me feel safe. That means more than you could know.

Thank you all so much. This is why I love it here.

As if to prove the old adage that a weed is a plant whose true virtue is not yet appreciated, here's the dainty flower of a speedwell in the lawn. With a flower about 6 or 7mm across, you really need to get close to appreciate just how pretty it is. #speirgorm

The Irish government has released a report on the benefits of the pilot for a Basic Income for the Arts, and in a total shocker, it seems like it was good for the country as well as the artists.

Nobody could have seen this coming.
