SPLEEN
Charles Baudelaire:
Poems in Prose

#Baudelair #Theatre
SPLEEN Charles Baudelaire: Poems in Prose by Figurentheater Wilde & Vogel “Which one of us, in his moments of ambition, has not dreamed of the miracle of a poetic prose, musical, without rhythm and without rhyme, supple enough and rugged enough to adapt itself to the lyrical impulses of the soul, the undulations of reverie, the jibes of conscience? It was, above all, out of my exploration of huge cities, out of the medley of their innumerable interrelations, that this haunting ideal was born.“ Charles Baudelaire, Preface to Paris Spleen, 1869 Spleen is a kaleidoscope of pictures, so songs and miniatures, inspired by Charles Baudelaire’s collection of poems in prose Le Spleen de Paris, which was published posthumously in 1869. Mankind on the threshold to modernity is described in the scenes played out between thirst for life and longing for death, between a romantic search for infinity and a brutal triviality. The play is open in this production: the performers are on the stage with puppets and musical instruments, Baudelaire’s texts spoken by children and recorded on tape. The magic of this kaleidoscope develops in the imagination between actors, material and audience: A sequence of pictures and live-music, that wants to counterpoint Baudelaire’s vision of the world and open it for an understanding from the present. Directed by: Hendrik Mannes Performance & puppets: Michael Vogel Live-music: Charlotte Wilde Foto: Jaana Jur

They were selling tickets at the concession last night which cleared up the front for this shot. I really like the warm red glow from inside. I should do more nighttime photos.

Move over, Jean Valjean — Luigi Mangione will soon be immortalized on a San Francisco stage in a musical comedy about the alleged UnitedHealthcare CEO gunman. “Luigi the Musical,” slated to debut at the Taylor Street Theater on June 13, promises a “bold, campy and unafraid” take on the life and times of the man accused

Just saw Totoro on stage, it was incredible!

The staging was so magical. I saw Spirited Away in the theatre last year and it was a similar puppetry format. So so good, and really emotional. #theatre

Going to die on that hill, but not every ancient #theatre necessarily is an #Amphitheatre. 🤷‍♂️🏺
Drawing on squared paper showing an ancient theatre (half a circle) on the left (note underneath reading: "theatre = "place for viewing") and an amphitheatre (full circle) on the right (note underneath reading: "amphi = 'on both sides' (around)".

Not every ancient #theatre necessarily is an "#AmphiTheatre".

I'm willing to die on this hill. 🏺🤷‍♂️
Drawing of two ancient theatre types. The "classic", half-circular theatron to the left and the full circle amphitheatre to the right. A note explains that "theatron" means "place for viewing" and "amphi" is coming from "on both sides (around)".

I got to participate on the filming of a music video back in February and, while not much of it made it to the final cut, @tcowboy.bsky.social was there to capture this gorgeous behind the scenes footage.

So glad I had a chance to dress up and play around on stage!
