Having a difficult time concentrating today. Going back in my mind to this lovely #blue #SealRock trip. 💙🌊 #RockinTuesday #TidesOutTuesday #ORCoast #beach #PacificOcean #PNW #Nature #Photography #ECK #GoOutside #Breathe #Notice
A clear blue sky, a horizon of dark blue Pacific Ocean waters, black basaltic ridges poking up along the sandy beach horizon… tide pools galore. Seal Rock on the central Oregon coast.

Near dusk on the Oregon Coast, the sand looks black, the waves are lapping with white foam and dark ribbons. The sky above is deep blue with wispy white clouds rolling across and a hazy gray fog bank along the horizon.

A macro monochrome shot of a pale gray to whitish tangle of oakmoss lichen on a tree twig, along with some dark gray moss and liverwort on a very dark gray to black background, so the oakmoss really stands out! I think it looks like a monster with two big, uneven eyes, a gaping mouth, and multiple curly, tendril like limbs. It’s actually scary!

One last #abstractia #water shot before the weekend ends. #BNWMacro #AOFoto #Monochrome #Macro #WaterTexture #Autumn #Leaves #PNW #ECK #GoOutside #Breathe #Notice #KeepGoing
A monochrome, macro shot of an Oregon oak leaf that’s fallen into a stream. The water’s glossy, quicksilver-like ripples and dimples as it goes over pebbles and around the leaf while reflecting the sky and tree branches above give it a multi-dimensional appearance. This is absolutely my jam. If you see a weird lady hovering over a stream or a creek or a puddle with her camera, there’s a chance it’s me.

For #Spooky #BlueSkyArtShow, I have a reportedly #HauntedHouse! #ClassicMono #BushHouse #OR #PNW #ECK #GoOutside #Breathe #Notice #KeepGoing
A spooky, dark, monochrome shot from the ground path leading up to the Bush House in Salem, Oregon. Once inhabited by one of Salem’s most prominent families, it is now a museum and art center where. Many people have reported cold spots, strange shadows moving where nobody was, whispers, and a woman screaming or crying out. I’ve never experienced any of that there, but… maybe it’s true? I’ve certainly been in Miss Sally’s greenhouse and gardens by myself to take pictures, and have occasionally felt - not exactly alone. Nothing menacing, just… not alone. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This was a particularly fun #waterfall chase, a couple of summers ago. #SilverFalls #OR #WaterfallWednesday #SouthFalls #Hiking #PNW #ECK #GoOutside #Breathe #Notice #KeepGoing
A picture of the South Falls of Silver Creek Falls State Park in the central Cascade foothills of Oregon. I took this from under the basaltic rock overhang, looking back at the trickle of waterfall, slow from the drought, as it falls into the pool below. The overhang looks like a jagged, black tear in the blue sky. Thick forest and greenery cover the other side of the “bowl” into which the waterfall drops.

Just a few last #yellow #leaves hang on to this black walnut #tree. #ColorADay #YellowThu #SensoryArt #Chaos #AOFoto #Woods #Trees #ECK #PNW #GoOutside #Breathe #Notice #KeepGoing
A tangle of shaggy, silhouetted branches and twigs against a blue sky, but with a central, sun-illuminated cluster of golden yellow walnut leaves. You can’t see it here, but on the path beneath the tree, squirrel-picked-over walnut fruits and nuts littered the area, reminding me of the black walnut puddle I had to jump almost every day to get to the library at the UofO. The tree is still there (thank goodness), but the broken sidewalk has been fixed in the many years since I was a student there.

A gnarly Oregon oak towers over the other #trees along this mental health walk I took today. #ThickTrunkTuesday #Forests #Fall #Autumn #Nature #Photography #TakeAWalk #PNW #GoOutside #Breathe #Notice #Don’tGiveUp
A big old Oregon white oak tree towers over the right side of the picture on a cloudy day, it’s gnarly branches spreading across and up to the sky and off to the right over smaller trees with yellowing and reddening leaves. The oak’s leaves are still mostly green, although it’s almost the end of October.

Found this #spooky #face peering out of the #rocks on #CobbleBeach at #YaquinaHead. That place is a real ankle twister, but so many things to see! #Pareidolia #RockinTuesday #TidesOutTuesday #ORCoast #ClassicMono #PNW #ECK #GoOutside #Breathe #Notice #YouMatter
A monochrome shot of a collection of wet, black, basaltic cobble rocks on Cobble Beach at Yaquina Head along the central Oregon Coast. There’s a large, flat, base rock that looks like an elongated head, with one big and one small rocks for eyes, a large, rounded-off trapezoidal rock facing right for a nose, and then a pile of smaller, rounded cobble rocks for a mouth full of… teeth? rocks? I don’t even want to know! There’s probably a ton of tiny shore crabs hiding underneath those rocks.
