full of curious shapes
I got lost in the end

The branches of a jacaranda tree, filled with purple trumpet flowers, stretching skyward. Clouds in the background. Arbor In the language of raindrops lilting upon fern-bellied leaves, a jacaranda is conversing with the sea. Bellwether branches forage for words, wild eminence blossoms like questions lost in translation by the tides. Answers come not only by way of the clouds, but in threading the filaments of rain— in this ancient art of seeking and weaving, we are wrought and weathered, waiting to brace the weight of a thundering sky. #poemsabout #shiftingskies The Brojen Spine hashtagged text on a background of blue sky and white clouds A poem by Debbie Ross The Big Skies of Home I moved here for the big skies - views to the hills, the sea, uninterrupted by brick or steel, gorse illuminating the skyline in neon. I moved here to breathe again choked up with stress and loss I needed a better view. The sky plays out a rolling set change hourly, shifting from grey to clouds, to blue, from sun to hail, abundant rainbows. I wouldn't swap my shifting skies for constancy. Rooted now in sunsets, storm clouds, sastrugi - a weather girl, brewing storms, soaking up the view. Bright but cloudy sky, hills distant, haar over the sea, moreland in the foreground

Walking out from Kiltarlity the days are lengthening the light softly grows the sky reaching out its hand to embrace us bog cotton brushes the wind the same wind that blows the smell of gorse across pink orchids in the ditch cuckoo sound envelops us elusive and unseen a vole darts ahead feverishly keen to avoid the buzzard’s acquaintance there is snow at the top of that far off mountain here the ground is wet soft under foot from last night’s rain we tread carefully so as not to sink so as not to disturb this life that surrounds us

Scattered (Near Fowey) A simple rowing boat, oars crimping the flatness of a thoughtless sea while only the sky’s dwarfing prayerfulness can upend or capsize, you coddle those ashes, warm and dark, with hopeless urgency as if a carried bird, and pouring out your sister-dust, a pearly cloud of memory is raining.

I guess this short poem falls under the #PoemsAbout rubric of #ShiftingSkies with the arrival of spring, maybe also the #PromptCombo of #together, as it tells of two strands of convergent evolution meeting at Whitsun. 🤷‍♂️

Grounded things ‘Swim to me’, said the sky, monstrous with anger – bloated by a prophecy of pregnant greys. But I stuck to the ground, where grounded things live; watched as the sun’s blades scalpelled open bellies. And all about me, things nodded in the breeze: grounded things that, like me, choose to live safely

Attention, Please! A call and response in the air, the fish crows have awakened and warn-- why don’t you listen? Once bombs dropped destruction on the ground, castles in the air, and we celebrated peace with strength, built walls, and watched them topple. Once the wind roared, “Yes, we can!” And we thought maybe we could, but you didn’t listen. Now we’re told 2+2= 5, why do you listen without noticing the turnings, the revolutions and rotations, the sky shifting gears set to drive—fast-- I see patches of blue, a bright red cardinal calls to his mate, listen spring demands to come. I hear sirens scream from across the river, smell smoke in the air, I tell you. but you are not listening.
