Lola, the most beautiful Malkavian vampire in Madrid ❤️‍🔥

#spanishartist #VtM #Vampiro2020 #ttrpg #art

#spanishartist #art #vampire #Coyote🧛🏼

Spanish artist Ignacio Zuloaga y Zabaleta divides the canvas into two planes. The legendary countess appears in the foreground looking up from reading while reclining on a divan, where she often greeted her guests that year for health reasons. In this allongée pose, strong lighting spotlights her presence, while her gown, made of pinkish and orangey chiffon and tulle, is highlighted by the color contrast with the green satin of the divan. Her bust is unabashedly pushed up and framed by her dark tresses, which along with her lips, her look and her Oriental features accentuate the expressive and intellectual sensuality of the countess, and with it her psychological depth. However, the physical seduction of her body is nullified by her loose gowns. The background, which is highlighted as a backdrop, refuses any aim at perspective with a cloudscape flanked by heavy curtains. Books arranged on a side table evoke the profession of the countess as a famous writer, along with a pearl necklace, a sign of passion, and a vase of roses, a symbol of love. This is a small symbolic compendium of the countess' artistic oeuvre while also representing the theme of the vanitas from the Spanish Baroque. Executed with extraordinary technical virtuosity, the work is aligned with the aesthetic ideals that the painter promoted during this period. "In a painting, I am not seeking atmosphere, distances, nor sun nor moon. I am seeking character, psychological penetration of a race, emotion, demonstration of a somewhat romantic vision... I want to paint from the heart and brain, but not from the eyes" (letter to Juan Pujol, February 8, 1912). After being displayed to resounding success in the United States in 1916 and 1917, the painting was acquired by the Spanish shipping magnate, Ramón de la Sota, after appearing in the 1st International Painting and Sculpture Exhibition of Bilbao in 1919. That same year, De la Sota donated the work to the recently-created Museum of Bilbao.

Figura en una finestra (Figure at the Window) by Salvador Dalí (Spanish) - Oil on papier-mâché / 1925 - Museo Reina Sofia (Madrid, Spain) #womeninart #art #oilpainting #SalvadorDalí #Dalí #SalvadorDali #Dali #womensart #MuseoReinaSofia #artwork #SpanishArt #MEAC #ArtText #SpanishArtist #fineart
According to Rafael Santos Torroella, one of the great Spanish artist Salvador Dalí scholars, between 1923 and 1926 the painter did at least a dozen portraits of his sister Anna Maria, including the two in the Museo Reina Sofía collection, this painting “Figura en una finestra (Figure at the Window)” and “Retrato (Portrait).” After they were shown in 1925 at the Dalmau gallery, certain critics, including Folch i Torres, linked Dalí’s portraits to Catalan Noucentisme. According to Dalí himself in his book “The Secret Life of Salvador Dalí,” Pablo Picasso praised the pictures after his visit to the Dalmau gallery, and there is no doubt that they contain a certain echo of Picassian Classicism. Figura en una finestra is perhaps the absolute masterpiece of the series of portraits of Anna Maria. Rafael Santos Torroella stated that the painting is “a marvel for the skill with which it combines the occupied spaces and the empty spaces, giving them equal compositional importance to such an extent that the fact that he has simply eliminated one of the window casements (the left one) escapes the viewer, who does not even notice the anomaly, despite the fact that this is precisely where so much of the enigmatic beauty radiating from the painting, with its pure serenity, resides.” From behind, we see Anna Maria leaning out an open window (in a barren room) looking out at a coastal scene with a sailboat on the water. She is wearing a pale blue knee-length skirt and short-sleeve top and casual white shoes. Her dark hair has curly grey highlights. The window has grey/blue curtains which match her clothing.

Autorretrato (Self-Portrait) by Delhy Tejero (Spanish) - Oil on board / 1937 - Museo Reina Sofia (Madrid, Spain) #womeninart #art #painting #MuseoReinaSofia #oilpainting #selfportrait #DelhyTejero #portrait #artwork #womensart #fineart #spanishartist #portraitofawoman #autorretrato #womanartist
Adela Tejero Bedate (known as Delhy Tejero) painted this self portrait in 1937 during the Spanish Civil War when she was 33. The close-up portrait of her head and shoulders, done with subtle brushstrokes and variations in color intensity, allows us to focus on Tejero’s thoughtful and introspective expression. She is slightly turned towards the us, with her gaze directed off to her left. A simple, light-colored top adds to the overall sense of simplicity and grace. Her distinctive beauty with expressive almond eyes, a gentle curve to her pink lips, and a noticeable nose bridge are complemented by her short, dark hair styled in a fashion common to the era. The muted, light grayish-green color background creates a natural contrast with the Tejero’s darker features while the lighting is evenly distributed, suggesting a soft natural light source that illuminates her face without harsh shadows to draw our attention to her emotions and personality.
