the only upside is that we are rapidly approaching a potential +15D electorate come November
OK I did some back of the envelope math here and if no other state redraws their lines the median seat went to Trump by 4.4%, or 3% more Republican than the nation as a whole. If AL, SC and LA manage to eliminate 4 seats that goes up to a median seat that went to Trump by 5.5%.
The Supreme Court of VA invalidates the state's new pro-D gerrymander (www.vacourts.gov/static/opini...), which (with new maps in FL and TN this week) updates the redistricting playing field to something like:

We never really saw an extreme drop in Chinese container volumes to the US, they held up *way* better than I expected over the past month.

firstly, I'm not back, at least in the sense as I was a month ago. there is a truly liberating feeling to Log Off for a while, and it's one I'd like to hang onto for a while. Secondly, I also don't necessarily want to re-litigate what happened, at least not at this time.

that threat model has quickly [i.e. in the last 6 weeks] shown itself to be woefully narrow, and I'm going to be significantly reassessing what I talk about online [publicly], among other things, until I have a better grasp on what the new model is. I think this is prudent, if unfortunate, to do.

I would note that in TEU (shipping container) terms, freight bound for the US from China has slowed sharply but is NOT at extreme lows yet.
