“You don’t ever say anything about the genoicde that happened in Mongolia in the 5th dynasty 1800bc. Therefore, you can’t oppose Harris funding a genoicde in Gaza today, and it’s fine that I voted for it.”

For the real connoisseur, here are pre-modern Dutch entry kerbs formed of raw slab, presaging Edinburgh’s eventual conversion to the design in the days of our children’s children.

I talked with Dr Miano about that, Caral was ~3000-2600bc with a decline ~1800bc. You cited the Chavin at 1800bc? The pre-Olmec were ~1600bc with the Maya next. Yet in N Central Louisiana there is a mound builder culture at ~3600bc. Combined with migration myths it's a bizarre picture.

Any Jaguars at Caral? Kinda looks like a Kiva in front of the temple complex. Caral was 3000+bc and declined ~1800bc and apparently started moving north.

The age is interesting, Caral Peru (~2700bc) declined ~1800bc and a precursor to the Olmec arose 1700-1600bc. The Aztec claim the American SW as a point of origin but have clear ties to the Olmec as seen by the Olmec 'helmet' and Templo Mayor at Tenochtitlan.

The oldest surviving joke in any language is a "_____ walks into a bar" joke. (Sumerian, 1800BC: "A dog walks into a bar and says, 'I can't see a thing. I'll open this one.'")

We don't have enough context to, like, get it? but it is clearly such a joke.

Depends how you count. The events in the Odyssey took place probably around 1200BC. If I recall correctly, Abraham came out of Ur by 1800BC at the latest.

The Odyssey emerged maybe around 700 and was written down about the same time Jewish scholars compiled the Torah from older sources.

The Caral-Supe civilization developed independently in Peru 5,000 years ago. Uniquely, it may have relied on marine rather than agricultural resources.

Expect similar statements once Farage is PM. "We overcame the barbarian Beaker People in 1800BC and we'll overcome these minor sanctions on two of our fascist MPs too"

But this have been around the same time as the Egyptian Pharoah's very first expeditions to the land of Punt! Around 2300BCE, I think, bit earlier, I think Cheops would have been trading with them, but it may never have been written down anywhere! Hatshepsut later 1800BC?, then re-established trade.

@godfly.bsky.social @brucecoffman.bsky.social Hey, what if this is true, the story of Acrisius and him going to the Delphian oracle, they had spies doing her work, right, in Egypt, around this time, 2000BC, let us say, for example (or 1800BC? 1300BC?), who knew, because of an Egyptian technological

I'm very lucky to get to talk all day about things I love, and also to get to talk all day about the things that give life meaning. Reading this tablet from 1800bc aloud to my students while giving an on the fly discussion of what was being said was a great way to spend an hour.

Some guys say, "Because God sees it." Whatever the reason, invisible detail has a long history. About 45 min. into this video, an endoscope reveals the interior of a nautical model from 1759.

Bronze Age amber (like the 200 beads in the Upton Lovell necklace) came from Scanidinavia, and similar 'spacer-plate' necklaces have been found in Mycenean Greece - showing links to the Mediterannean world in around 1800BC.
