My partner just pointed out: maybe this is why I'm not keen on jazz, specifically noodling (the most iconically jazz feature of jazz) -- it's about the musician(s) expressing emotion in a relatively pure uncut way.
A review in the New Yorker once, years ago, said "Dance is a way of expressing emotions too powerful for words." I immediately went, "Oh, that's why dance bores me to tears!" My emotions are fairly weak and I have above-average facility with words.
