With so many users here talking about their accounts having been taken over by scammers, it seems prudent to enable Two Factor Authentication (2FA) on BlueSky. 🕵️♀️
It's in Settings -> Privacy and Security. ⚙️
Currently, the only supported 2FA method seems to be old-school email. Better than nothing! 📧

My favorite part is when i have to do that before inputting a password and then using 2FA, like just have me use authenticator first please jfc

If logging into your service requires a username and password AND THEN sending a 2FA code to my phone AND THEN emailing me a special link to click to log in, I feel that we're at a point of diminishing returns

got a Bluesky friend whose account is sending out spam DMs every couple minutes? she changed PW and put on 2FA but still doin' it. any ideas?

If they're certain that 2FA was on, there's always the (slim) possibility that their email was compromised, so they could reset passwords, remove active sessions, and add 2FA to the email account

I'm still baffled that I've been expected to enable 2fa everywhere and to use my personal phone/number for this purpose

Today I had to use 2FA to verify the device I was on to update a password, and then I had to use 2FA to verify *the same* device I was on to log in.
