Day 1: Couldn't write much today because my son won't leave me alone for a second. But this is my fav of the few hundred words I did write.

Hope #30lines30days challenge will motivate me to write more in the coming days.

Missed #30Lines30Days yesterday, so here it is now.
I grabbed my things from the back, said my goodbyes to Karen and Ana and the rest of the group, and headed out. I made the 15-minute drive in less than 10 minutes, thanks to some luck with lights and no cops. When I pulled into the parking lot of the empty store, I didn’t see anybody and had a moment of panic. I pulled around to the back and finally saw them. Jerrek and Zach stood there, next to a beat-up old minivan. When I parked my car, Kai got out of the back of the minivan. He looked a little worse for wear, tired and a bit disheveled in ill-fitting clothes, but still so beautiful. I forgot how to breathe.

Somewhere unbeknownst to others, a menacing, sleek spacecraft hung in the void. In an enclosed room onboard, knelt an armored figure. “Report.” The modulated tone from a hologram demanded. “There were signs of—” The armored figure stopped, even with the reflective visor, the cloaked figure on the other side of the transmission was visibly scowling. “That is of no matter. If I must lie in wait a while longer, then I shall. It is time to end this cycle and claim my desire.” The figure threw out a suited hand. “Begin the attack. Burn The Federation to the ground.” The transmission ended. “Yes, basileia.”
