#360kmh
Meinst du du wirst jetzt Adrenalinsüchtig? Immer Fallschirmspringen gehen, mit 360kmh über den Nürburgring usw

Unless you're overnighting in the Thielbunker, anything on the ground is pretty much toast regardless of the construction.

360kmh+ cyclonic winds reported in Florida last night...

Also, the political willy-waving of having the line speed specification to be "360kmh" so that it was faster than any other HSL meant colossal increases in construction costs vs if we'd just used existing proven French/EU LGV spec lines - like we did for HS1. Which was built on time and on budget

And then not to mention bespoke rolling stock for 360kmh running and wider loading gauge.

The speed was a huge jump (sorry it's 360kmh, not 500). 250kph would have been OK, but it wouldn't have put it amongst the world's fastest. But the high speed limits the extent of curves and inclines, so adds to costs from earthworks and compulsory purchases.

It wasn’t. Planned operating speeds are 360kmh, not 500kmh.

There may have been discussions about planning for that higher speed, but don’t think they ever became reality.

Also this is a 150-year project - eg it’s expected to operate for 150 years, so you build it to the required quality

Yeah I was wondering but didn't want to overstate. Thanks. So, the MotoGP riders run over the crest on the Mugello straight at 360kmh these days, which is 224mph for Americans. Then as the track drops away they have to land the bike and immediately brake for a slow 180-deg right.
