After the 3Boot ended, Geoff Johns restored a slightly modified version of the first Legion. It picked up an unspecified period of time after the cancellation of the original book but negated 5YL completely. Took a dofferent path. This is the Retroboot.

It will be a beautiful book. I have a lot of trust in the creative team. I was secretly hoping the original Legion timeline could come back. The is my era, but I did love the Reboot, and came to enjoy the 3boot. This new version looks great and I like the set up. Finger crossed.

3boot it looks a reread to enjoy it more. I had high hopes for Bendis run. He has done some stuff I love, and some stuff I don't. I never read the retroboot. I will one day. 2/

I know a lot of long time fans felt betrayed by 3Boot and it was uneven. Waid shotgunned dozens of new concepts and interpretations. Some worked, others didn't. It was an interesting experiment though.

I have seen a couple of people my age, OAD (Old As Dirt), fussing about it not being the 80s version. I just want a fresh take with the heart of the original and the Reboot. I like the 3boot. I am blocking BendMessboot* form my brain.

I am of the philosophy that all characters are on the table to kill. The bigger the hero the more it hurts and it should hurt. You call always resurrect2

I’ve loved a lot of Waid’s work although his 3boot LSH was uneven compared to his Zero Hour LSH IMO. The idea of Legion as pseudo-Ren-Faire take on Age of Heroes was cool but never quite given the legs to explore it over more active stories.

Most of the variations of his suit look pretty good, except 3boot where the “eagle” crest is squashed to look like a cross or something.

Yeah. Her origin as a forcibly mutated refugee is hard core and tragic. She could of been extremely memorable overcoming her trauma. She was such a blank slate and had near identical powers, I wish Shooter had reintroduced April instead of creating gazelle during his 3Boot run.

This reminds me how disappointing 3Boot was. They race swap Thom, give him a great looking new costume and than he gets barely any lines and zero impact on the story.
There was definitely a trope with female-feline characters that Catspaw suffered from, but I would gladly see her back. The constant focus on Brainy in 3boot (or any run) is always a sticking point for me.

I am old a dirt, I was in my mid-20s when Crisis happened. My Legion is the Silver Age to Zero Hour one. I LOVE the reboot. I have enjoyed the 3boot. I need to finish the Supergirl part. I won't mention Bendis run. Yikes!

you might check out the 3boot era of the Legion if you haven't read it as I recall it dug more into that kind of divide, it used the Wanderers brand as an Earth Gov's internal legion style team, though I think maybe the Justice League from Action Comics works better for that

How the split colors worked or the choice of purple and orange? Those were there from her start. But the split (which carried into the reboot and Bendis (and 3boot?)) really messed with the idea that they were identical (and really detracted from the Espionage Squad idea).

There was a great bit during Shooter's 3Boot run where Ultra Boy wrecked the shit out of some low level super villains. He was so quick and precise in his power shifts and very clever in the way he used his abilities he made the beatdown effortless, despite his unique weakness.
