the frame is split in half, diagonally: the top right half is a deep jewel-blue sky. the other half is an enormous mountain of a cloud, layered like an ice cream sunday. the bottom and top layers are in shadow but the middle layer, that's glowing in the alpenglühen of the just-set sun. it's a golden peach, on fire.

last night's moon

pentax 645d + 80-160mm
piles of clouds fluff above low, rolling desert hills dotted with saguaro. the bottoms of the clouds are a smoky pink and purple due to the sunset. the tops are bright gold. the moon looks nestled between two large cloud forms. the valley is warm in the fading light.

from last night's sunset: clouds and hazy moon

wish i'd been able to hit the photos about 15 min sooner but i canNOT juggle the dog AND the pentax 645d lmao
tiers of sunset clouds against a blue sky— the bottom layers are bruised and dark on the bottom, glowing orange, from a thick layer to rising wispily, like they're reaching upwards, and to the right — the upper layers are thin and bright the moon glows hazily through a soft bank of clouds. the bottom clouds are perfectly smooth, like a dream, dusty warm purple to mauve to a pinky peach… then they thin out and the moon can be seen through the remaining wisps

photons to pixels claims the s5 pro's DR is lower than the pentax 645d, nikon z6 ii (same as nikon zr, which i owned), and equal to the leica m8

the 645d blows highlights in clouds and sunsets if not carefully used

the leica m8 blows highlights indoors

the zr's results were… disgusting + weird
chart showing dynamic range vs iso setting. the fujifilm s5 pro and leica m8 line are identical. the 645d is about 1.5 stops above at all times. the nikon is up to 3 - 3.5 stops above

I really loved my new experiences with the 645D.
