Ive been looking at options for another antenna. I need TX coverage for 6 meters, 2 meters and 70cms bands but I also require wideband coverage for airband etc. So Im thinking maybe a discone antenna.....

the minikits stuff gets good reviews... but I don't have one... I'm only really /P so never bothered (short feeders). Is everything a bit quiet on 70cms RX?

This is interesting.
It seems the ill fated Series 30 will go ahead. The #SSTV transmissions will come from from #RS-38S rather that the #ISS.
Transmissions will be on #UHF #70cms and the mode will be #Robot36.
Images will be lower resolution, the usual PD120 is 640x496 while Robot36 is 256x120

If you missed out on the chance to get the SSTV Series 30 images via the ISS, there's an event coming up to fulfill that need.

Good fun on tonight's RSGB 432MHz UKAC contest. My best yet for number of QSOs (35 ITL) and 14 grid squares worked. Shame I didn't manage to work very far up country but pleased to get a few outside the UK, one 🇧🇪 and three 🇫🇷 which included best DX at 274 miles. #70cms #SSB #QRP

I really struggled with static when hail storms passed over, S9+ noise!! Hope WX is better next Tuesday for 70cms !!

There is some really cool stuff happening involving MRI.
One of the coolest things is Fujifilms premiering closed bore magnets that can get nearly 3T quality images in half the usual scan times along with being 70cms wide instead of the standard 60cms. Patient comfort improved with that.
