For today's #TidesOutTuesday. This image of an impressive old pine tree snag was made over the Gulf of Mexico with a full spectrum camera and a 720nm filter. It was a good cloud day. #photography #landscape #ECK #infrared #fullspectrum #bnw #blackandwhite #monochrome #clouds

evening light in saguaro national park west

full spectrum samsung nx200 + 18-55mm + 720nm
stark black & white photo, showing a hillside covered with saguaros, palo verde bushes, and spindly, towering ocatillo lit by the sun, the ground in dark shadow cascading from the top left to bottom right. rising up behind it, fruther away, stark stony mountains covered in (very tiny) saguaro rise into the black sky with streaky white clouds

Hmmm.
My 2 #infrared Nikon cameras shoot straight images without filters or PC processing. I need to buy lens filters for this camera & edit in photoshop. 720nm filter arriving Saturday.

I may have this figured out a little bit. Switched to 720nm and we made this. "Rural Elevator... never out of service."
50,000 ISO, +1 EV, f2 at 1/60th thinning overcast
Shot at 720nm IR pass. The intersection of a cart path and a steep staircase in the woods with no handrails ascending to the next terrace. It is a theme of living here... traveling uphill both ways ;)

2/5 an #infrared walk

A path in Hainault Forest in outer E London.
#fullspectrum Sony A7ii with a clip-in #720nm filter and vintage #Konica24mmf28 It's a #vertorama.

#photography #woodlandphotography #blackandwhite #ir
A monochrome photograph looking down a dirt path through a forest of bare, intertwining trees. A wooden signpost with two arrow signs stands in the foreground, their text illegible; fallen leaves and underbrush cover the ground, and overcast light gives the scene a soft, moody tone.

Lambourne Church is 12th century with the bell tower added in the early 16th century. It reminds me of many US churches.
#fullspectrum Sony A7ii with a clip-in #720nm filter and vintage #Konica24mmf28

#photography #churchphotography #blackandwhite #ir #classicmono
A monochrome photograph of a small traditional church with a tall pointed steeple, set in a well-kept graveyard dotted with tombstones and trimmed bushes. Thick, swirling clouds fill the sky overhead, giving the scene a serene yet sombre mood.

yayyy i love spreading the joy of infrared!

fwiw i would def recommend 720nm and not 850nm bc 850 is so little light and very very stark

720 requires more editing but you can still get great constant!

I used Rollei Superpan 200 with my usual digital trichrome kit (ZWB2 + TSN575, TSN575(x2), and 720nm). I hadn't figured out the exposure time for UV yet, so I guessed about f/8 at 1sec and that basically nailed it. I did do more experiments, but that's for a later time.

exciting!!

so i would try an inexpensive 720nm / hoya 72 filter first, no specific brand necessary. you’ll need a tripod or other stable prop

most cameras can shoot IR without modification BUT it will let very little light thru (due to the sensor glass) and expoeures will be long

3/3 an #infrared walk

On my walk I met this inquisitive #alpaca, who wanted to know all about my #fullspectrum Sony A7ii, its 720nm clip-in filter and the Konica 24mm f2.8 lens.

#photography #blackandwhite #classicmono
A black and white pastoral photograph: in the foreground, an alpaca with dense, curly fleece looks directly at the camera, its woolly texture sharply in focus. Behind it, a herd of alpacas grazes across a grassy field, softly blurred by the shallow depth of field, with a tree line and cloudy sky on the horizon.

1/5 an infrared walk

This week a set of images from some recent outings with the #infrared setup of a #fullspectrum Sony A7ii with a clip-in #720nm filter and vintage #Konica lenses - mostly the 24mm f2.8. This is on a footpath between Abridge and the M11 in Essex.

A pile of weathered, broken wooden planks and debris lies in dry grass and bare earth, with leafless yellow-brown shrubs behind under a heavy, dark overcast sky.

Yep. My second (first successful) conversion, and a great little camera. (Glued a 37mm thread to the front and a 720nm IR filter will sit there quite happily. Plus an IR cut filter and colour filters for IR trichromes.)

The traffic in Glasgow was bad today. I have never heard so many people sounding their horns. It used to be so unusual to sound the horn in anger or frustration.

Title: The Ghost Garden
Style: Infrared photography (false-color, 720nm); high-contrast fine-art print with extended tonal processing.
The Awesome Prompt in ALT
An ordinary garden bench transformed by infrared film into a dreamscape: every leaf glows spectral white, the sky is a solid black void, clouds burn like neon. At the bench's center, a single red dahlia in a plain glass jar of water has collapsed, its petals — rendered nearly black against the white blaze — folding into themselves. The surrounding grass flares with haloed, otherworldly luminance. Style: Infrared photography (false-color, 720nm); high-contrast fine-art print with extended tonal processing. Composition: Dead-center symmetrical framing at eye level; the dark flower as the sole counterpoint in a sea of white radiance; a strong central vanishing point down the garden path. Lighting: Unrelenting high-noon sun recorded in infrared; hard specular highlights, glowing halation around foliage, near-black sky. Adjectives: Spectral, uncanny, radiant, silent, otherworldly.
