#ADBill
Obviously this sort of thing would never happen in the UK, right? @carladenyer.bsky.social
#ADBill
I’m a disabled person living in Canada. My conditions are incurable - but there ARE treatments. I would be considered a “high cost health user” because I’m medically complex.

The first time a doctor brought up assisted dying - it was in response to my requesting an expedited GI consult /1 🧵

Quite. MPs like @carladenyer.bsky.social voted for the #ADBill because they are compassionate people who sincerely believe this move will make our society more humane. I think they are mistaken. (I have #CRPS. You can't even Google it without suicide coming up.)

Fingers x'd. This legislation should never come about through a private members bill. The #ADBill Commons passage at times looked like an emotive procedure hijack - disabled people silenced, medics & lawyers ignored. The Lords were right to put down amendments. www.theguardian.com/society/2026...

The reality is that most chronically ill people don't have those things. This #ADBill makes it less likely they will in the future. Yet compassionate people like @carladenyer.bsky.social are persuaded to vote for it with stories about "unbearable suffering" it doesn't address.
