New research: “Raynaud’s syndrome is a common dysautonomia where cold increases vascular tone of distal arteries causing vasoconstriction and hypoxia... Our results indicate Raynaud’s is related to vascular function mediated by adrenergic signaling through ADRA2A.“

Then, we tested the C-fiber nociceptors component. Ensemble composition changed only modestly across an array of skin stimuli. In contrast, representation of cutaneous vs visceral pressure diverged strongly, with Adra2a+ C-fibers dominating response to bladder and colorectal distension. 4/8

Thanks! I just received my first Rx, and it says it’s also used to treat high blood pressure. I have POTS, meaning i’m prone to low blood pressure. What should i be watchful for, if anything?

Also, fyi, apparently i “have an anamoly on the ADRA2A gene that makes you less responsive to guanfacine”

Checking ADRA2A in our @amaticahealth cohort and it looks like a subgroup is high and low.

Which matches as not all ME/CFS patients respond the same.

Some actually show decreases in ADRA2A after exercise.

This diversity suggests different CDR profiles across patients.

In most ME/CFS patients, exercise causes sharp increases in mRNA for:

- P2RX4 / P2RX5 (purinergic receptors)

- TRPV1 (pain receptor)

- ADRA2A (adrenergic receptor)

These genes are linked to pain, fatigue, and stress signals.
