This was started for @miwwdu-sitsom.bsky.social's #ConlangApril game, but I didn't get far in it so I wanted to complete it this week for my final challenge: Translating The North Wind and the Sun from Aesop's Fables. I have the original I worked off of, an Arca'raed version, & one more phoentic.
The North Wind and the Sun The North Wind and the Sun had a quarrel about which of them was the stronger. While they were disputing with much heat and bluster, a Traveller passed along the road wrapped in a cloak. "Let us agree," said the Sun, "that he is the stronger who can strip that Traveller of his cloak." "Very well," growled the North Wind, and at once sent a cold, howling blast against the Traveller. With the first gust of wind the ends of the cloak whipped about the Traveller's body. But he immediately wrapped it closely around him, and the harder the Wind blew, the tighter he held it to him. The North Wind tore angrily at the cloak, but all his efforts were in vain. Then the Sun began to shine. At first his beams were gentle, and in the pleasant warmth after the bitter cold of the North Wind, the Traveller unfastened his cloak and let it hang loosely from his shoulders. The Sun's rays grew warmer and warmer. The man took off his cap and mopped his brow. At last he became so heated that he pulled off his cloak, and, to escape the blazing sunshine, threw himself down in the welcome shade of a tree by the roadside. The artireoh te bhrute, nu'subael tha aleoh smadhte tha clocabh. Gaodh' fergha bha fela. Grena asdeita saemhyl gaerte. Tha sola af tal gaert bha toislan og baett teris tha beitiraem af Gaodh Tuate' baen. Nu'subael tha osgaelte bal clocadh sal ve hagate eir bal gueladh'. Grena gaerte farsaneoh og baetteoh. Grena' gaer bha sal bartt tha nu'subael fosgadhte tuig crann moer, og adh’ait cadil'te. Gaodh Tuate vidirte: Grena ladhe bhuate caite Gaodh' fergha bhregte. North Wind and Sun (Phonetic of Arca'raed version) North Wind and Sun had a small argument which of them was more strong. They were disputing with much feeling and bragging as a traveller walked along, wrapped in a cloak. "We shall agree," Sun said, "that they who is more strong can strip the cloak off the traveller." "Agreed," North Wind grumbled, and at once sent their cold, sharp limbs to push the traveller. Wind's fingers first touched the traveller, making the ends of the cloak to whip from his body. The traveller but wrapped himself in the cloak more, angering North Wind. The harder they pushed, the more the traveller held the cloak. Wind's anger was hollow. Sun then gently smiled. The light of their smile was pleasant and warm after the sharpness of North Wind's touch. The traveller opened his cloak so it hung on his shoulders. Sun smiled wider and warmer. The traveller removed his hat and wiped water from his brow. The traveller soon became excessively hot, and removed the cloak as well. Sun's smile was so warm the traveller sheltered under a large tree, and soon slept. North Wind conceded: Sun's kindness won where Wind's anger failed.
