Did you know that this year's BBC 2 #AGhostStoryForChristmas is adapted from an #ENesbit tale, 'Man-Size in Marble'? There is obviously something in the air! #hauntedshadows at White Bear is an adaption of 3 of her other tales:

Don't you just hate it when marble statues get up and disappear to party without you?

Really enjoyed A Ghost Story For Christmas - Woman of Stone - on BBC Two this evening - atmospheric and unsettling. I do love a spooky tale at this time of year. #womanofstone #aghoststoryforchristmas

Inevitably mixed reviews here regarding this years #AGhostStoryForChristmas. Personally I thought Woman Of Stone was Gatiss’ strongest adaptation yet: pulling out themes only hinted at in the original text, while still remaining faithful (ironically enough)

Watched a Ghost Story For Christmas that I hadn't seen before yesterday: Stigma, from 1977. A sparse slice of contemporary folk horror/body horror.
Pretty effective but it didn't quite feel like it fits with the others in the series.

CL Nolan is not wrong. Something to do with us having both a fascination with & a fear of the past.

I regularly revisit these classic BBC ghost stories as a touchstone for how being haunted feels.

I think some of the Gatiss ones have worked, some haven't. That was a miss for me. Battering you over the head with "IT'S SCARY!" is not the same as atmosphere. #AGhostStoryforChristmas
