#AI-Slop-build-out
–– can somebody please build a browser extension that detects and filters out AI slop?

So some news here: it turns out that if you

(a) build a machine that emits slop created from ground-up stolen creative human labour

(b) stop feeding it human labour and direct the slop pipe back into its input hole

it breaks down and explodes
What is ‘model collapse’? An expert explains the rumours about an impending AI doom
Generative AI needs tons of data to learn. It also generates new data. So, what happens when AI starts training on AI-made content?

They definitely need to build it in, so confirmed AI slop engagement bait can be filtered out of feeds.

Being unable to tolerate frustration + chasing social media clout gotta be a big reason why ppl jumped on the gen ai machine to churn out slop

Silicon Valley isn’t just polluting our cultural and information systems with AI slop and destroying the environment in the process.

They’re also poised to force consumer electronics to shoot up in price because they’re buying up so much hardware for data centers.
Chip shortages threaten 20% rise in consumer electronics prices
Manufacturers and analysts warn AI data centre build-out is crowding out market for semiconductors

There’s so much slop out there now that this is gonna happen. This is the way on two fronts here: Union contract that protects against using AI art in the first place, and disclosing when it slips in to highlight the issue and build a culture of accountability. It’s tough out there. Well done.
Hi! Quick note: The Onion accidentally posted a stock photo from a vendor with an AI generated image in it. We pulled the post down once we found that out. Our commitment to not using AI is very real. It's in the union contract to disclose it if we ever do. World is a slop minefield and we're sorry.

I have the same thought, AI poisons the well it drinks from.

If techbros fail to build the god machine we'll be left with bots that are good enough to put many humans out of work, but not good enough to reach the same (or better) level of quality. Just industrial levels of slop.

really sad to see an animator in this community build up their momentum and become a really popular figure quickly makin bank only to pull a 180 and start churning out ai slop in the process

"What would you do if AI suddenly disappeared?"

Nothing in my life would change for the worse. On the contrary, I'd make more money because readers wouldn't have to dig through Kindle AI slop to find my books. And I could build a high-end gaming PC again without paying out the ass for RAM and SSDs.

Data centers only exist to support an unoptimized and brute force compute algo with no understanding of how matrix multiplication works. There are more efficient ways to build all of this that can be run locally and privately.

Also, if you see AI Slop that's not labeled, calling it out is helping 💖

Britain is literally trying to build a gas-powered data center that would use as much electricity as a few hundred thousand homes.

Building out fossil fuel infrastructure to power AI slop while consigning people to death from extreme heat is a cruel political choice

Fetish accounts who use AI continue to disappoint me.
I'd rather see the most amateur post it note drawing of some sci-fi drone scene hastily scribbled than whatever "polished" slop you could churn out.

Kink is art and human expression, you can't build a community on lies.

So basically the Albanese government’s position on AI data centres is that we can’t miss out on a ‘boom’ that will result in another fuckton or two of carbon emissions and slop, and take away lots of people’s jobs, but you might get a 12 month job helping to build one 👍🏻👍🏻
September 18, 2026 at 10:33 PM
Motherfucker you barely know how to build your current ersatz "AI" without feeding it ever-increasing amounts of energy, water and human creativity, and even then it only puts out worthless incorrect slop that's poisoning the internet.

Evil AI billionaires are trying to pay left-leaning creators to hype their slop machines and clanker factories, and @taylorlorenz.bsky.social has the receipts in @wired.com. If you see your favorite creators suddenly pushing chatbots, they've sold us all out.

Indeed. My mom actually used to build her own computers! But she focuses more on gardening and canning and dehydrating and cooking these days, so she hasn't really kept up with tech. I hate that there is so much "information" that sounds authoritative out there, AI slop or no.

"venture-backed indie studio" is already abject nonsense
and im gonna be THAT asshole: "_AN_ generative AI game developer"?

click through if youre brave, it gets worse, as unbelievable as that sounds
(turns out its 3-4 jobs in a trenchcoat & theyll build a forever-game out of slop w/ a part-timer)

With the advent of AI slop burying short story markets and agency submissions, I wonder if we aren’t going to end up turning full circle and going back to paper submissions to build in cost friction and weed out slop.

While "AI" certainly has some useful applications, a lot of the folks in charge of the trajectory of LLMs clearly want to use it to build a giant, badly automated ouroboros of lazy internet slop that shits out ad money without the need for pesky labor. You see this most profoundly in media, where a bunch of far-too-clever lads rushed to integrate under-cooked, broadly misunderstood LLMs…

"Why do artists hate AI so much?"

My brother in Christ, RAM prices are increasing and we are destroying our environment just to generate shit like "AI toilets, which one do you want" or "Grinch cooking tutorial"

We warned you, now you can't build your PC or have a decent place to live
December 16, 2025 at 1:59 PM
I’m sure generative AI could help me build a mediocre app very easily, just as it could help me generate some generic digital art very easily, or write a bad novel very easily. But why would I choose to put yet more AI slop out into the world?
February 24, 2026 at 6:25 AM
We should probably build some more data centers about it so that dipshit can keep putting out those AI slop phish videos
November 21, 2025 at 2:49 PM
These people can't code! Like WTF? They have, probably, among the most incompetent engineers I have ever seen, 20-somthing script kiddies who can't do anything but generate AI slop. This is how AI takes us out, because incompetent humans use it to build or rebuild important systems ...
*unhinged laughter*

I’d say “good luck, assholes” and leave it at that, except that THE reason this hasn’t been done before is that fucking it up means a lot of people are going to suffer and possibly die.

And they’re gonna fuck it up.
SCOOP: DOGE wants to rebuild SSA's codebase in months, risking benefits and system collapse, sources tell me.

The plan is to migrate all systems off COBOL quickly which would likely require the use of generative AI.
