#AI-derived
chat is it good if your estranged mother who at this point almost certainly has guilt-derived undiagnosed psychosis sends you AI generated images of """you""" and """your sister""" because that's "all she has"?

The appetite for AI-derived drivel isn’t as strong as many publishers would have you believe, and demand for quality content is growing.

Don't count out human writers in this AI era.

Amazing coming from a man who’s net worth is derived largely from: a car company that can’t make cars, an AI company that can’t make AI, and a space launch company that’s wholly dependent on contracts from the same govies who generate “low to negative productivity”

AI security researchers have called AI Engorgement an "inevitability", derived from the data-hungry processes that are so common in the industry. Many say that most commercially available models, from GPT to Gemini, are already affected.

"AI" is really: "Capital hates Labor so much, it wants to replace it entirely".

One little problem: ALL profit is, ultimately, derived from Labor.

AI can *NEVER* be profitable.

Someone is selling AI images derived off of my work, could anyone help report these? The more reports the better www.etsy.com/shop/DecaveI... =_=

What does the expression “a loose dog won't surf” mean?

Absolutely nothing. But if you type that into Google, AI Overviews will not only confirm that your gibberish is a real saying, it will also tell you what it means and how it was derived. Oh AI...

The new Chucky movie looks terrifying (AI obv) 😅

This is because humans can write *anything* AI can write, and more - because everything AI writes is derived from human written text.

Given an infinite timeline, the sum total of all AI generated works of text is a subset of all human generated works of text.

Google’s AI Overviews will not only confirm that a gibberish idiom is a real saying, it will also tell you what it means and how it was derived -- often including reference links.

it's in our rules! no gen ai or gen ai derived stuff allowed

Another way to think about this (derived from Corey Doctorow’s work) is that AI, among other things, is a tool for breaking solidarities between exploited populations. AI Detection puts you on the side of a surveillance technology against your students.

The point isn’t “no harm is derived from the AI industry.” It’s, humans are doing the harm.

no this is not AI, this is good old fashioned manually-made photoshop bullshit (derived from a real Forest Service graphic, but they haven’t sent me a cease and desist yet).

I'd like to dedicate this post to everyone who said there was no point in fighting this.

And to point out most of the value in AI companies is derived from their past scraping and in a just world, we'd be looking at billions in compensation.
Fantastic news in the UK today - the government has apparently ditched its plan to force creatives to 'opt out' if they don't want AI companies training on their life's work.

"Please note that procedural generation is not a form of generative AI; the procedures used to generate the world in the game are mathematical functions that have been derived and defined by hand, with direct creative intent." [3/3]

But because the specific slur-derived terminology she was talking about -- which is *unambiguously* derived from slurs used against people marginalized on the basis of race or disability -- is being directed at a thing people hate, what she actually said is twisted into "she thinks AI is sentient".

When the public thinks about "AI" they think about chatbots and internet slop but the real *transformation* stuff is in business processes / backends - and it's far from clear to what extent consumers will get any derived benefits. See for eg the AI arms race between insurers and hospitals below.
@washingtonpost reported earlier that hospitals insurance costs next year are projected to spike by the most in 2 decades, partly "due to medical providers’ increased use of artificial intelligence to find more claims they can bill for"

From Wikipedia's post about Grokipedia:

"Many articles are derived from Wikipedia articles, with some articles observed to be copied nearly verbatim"

also, Anthropic doesn't feel like they would want to argue to expland derived works protection, if done with eg a coding AI agent (that is one of their biggest renveue generators!)

Bandcamp doesn't allow AI stuff like Suno. Is he trying to use it to host Suno-derived stuff anyway? That's a bad look. Almost like AI people aren't good at rules… or honesty
