These bombers have spent years lobbing ALCMs into Kyiv apartment buildings, these are 100% legitimate targets.

They sold Kh-55 ALCMs to Iran in *2001*, which were later reverse engineered into the Soumar family of GLCMs but those missiles are totally inconsistent with the video because they have an underslung engine

With UK nukes on board? And if so, would they be lofted by Storm Shadows or their successors? If this happened, UK could contribute alongside French nuclear ALCMs aboard Rafale as part of standoff airborne European deterrence

🧵A loading facility preparing KH-101 air-launched cruise missiles (ALCMs) along with an unknown number of KH-101 missiles were destroyed in the strike of the 20th March 2025 on Engels-2 airfield, imagery from Maxar suggests.

SITREP 🇺🇦 DAY 1290

1. Sick: US ICE delivers Russian deserter to Eussian authorities (via Egypt)

Tu-160 is a nuclear strike capable aircraft but it's primarily used for launching ALCMs at Ukrainian cities yet no one ever describes that as "Putin's nuclear bombers are attacking Ukraine"
March 20, 2025 at 8:28 PM
the uk, for instance, has alcms that could be nuclearized although that process would most likely take years. you need a smaller warhead, new arming/fuzing/safing systems, integration into british aircraft, and so on. but it is doable

From there, the wheels turn automatically. For Iran, it would not be ICBMs (the idea of officers in silos turning keys) or SLBMs for worry of overflying other countries. The options for something like this are bombs or ALCMs from B-2s or B-52s, respectively. Both take a *lot* of time.

SITREP 🇺🇦 DAY 1588

1. Yermolaiev, a Ukrainian oligarch under 🇺🇦 sanctions linked to 🇷🇺 interests in Crimea badly injured in Monaco 🇲🇨 explosion with family

2. 🇺🇦 seeks licence to produce SCALP EG alcms

3. 154 strike drones vs 🇺🇦, 131 downed

2. China apparently has 600 YJ-63/CJ-20 ALCMs.

Golden Dome assessment says 1000 LACMs, while recent China Military Power says 400 of those are GLCMs and none (today) are SLCMS.

1000 LACMS - 400 GLCMS - 0 SLCMs = 600 ALCMs.

Wild to see these missiles that were meant to be ALCMs but with another booster or SRM slapped on the end so they can get the award

The cylindrical building in which the GK-120s are being loaded in the image below is a likely ACLM facility used for setting fuses, adding warheads and other preparatory work on the ALCMs prior to their loading onto strategic bombers.

One thing worth bringing up here is that as part of the Cooperative Threat Reduction program, Ukraine gave up its Soviet inheritance of strategic bombers and ALCMs, some of which were sold back to the Russians at very favorable rates, others just scrapped to ease minds in the West.
I guess we totally memory holed the two years where we insisted that letting ATACMS blow up Russian airpower at frontline airbases would cause nuclear war or something which forced Ukraine to invest in long range strike capacity that didn't have western oversight

Learned today: the New START denuclearized 60-0060 B-52H (see, no external identifier fin) practiced loading nuclear ALCMs during Global Thunder ex in Oct 25 before treaty expired. If so, can’t wait to hear explanation.

GIS software measures these containers to be around 7.5m in length. With the GK-120 container being 7.45m in length and the KH-101 being the most common ALCM deployed at Engels, we conclude these are likely containers for KH-101 ALCMs and all were destroyed in the strike.

Europe overall has many suppliers that produce many of the parts required for making ALCMs, from small engine manufacturers to airframe makers, and GNC pproducers. So, the union should allocate funds towards resuming production Taurus & increasing SCALP production.

The future is going to be a lot less manpower intensive, and most of the balance of power involves exchange of ALCMs, OWA drones and ballistic missiles. Dumping money into replacing infrastructure should be the main focus if interceptor production can't be scaled up quickly

IF LRSO (long range strike option) THENis to-be-nuclear-armed cruise missile being developed to replace nuke-capable ALCMs (Air Launched Cruise Missiles).

Is to use W80-4 warhead: a life extended version of W80-1 deployed on ALCMs.

Spain signals interest in acquiring a number of Taurus NEO ALCMs in cooperation with Germany. Berlin aims for an acquisition by end of 2025 or early 2026. Madrid also, unsurprisingly, supports the German position on FCAS. Trilateral planned for autumn.
