It's funny all I remember about Gilbert Blythe from reading AoGG as a kid was that he was an asshole that one time but he spends the entire rest of the series being the most stand-up dude in literary history.

Just realizing as I rewatch that Anne Shirley anime that there's never been a version of that story I've seen where the Marilla actress didn't eat, not even in that otherwise lackluster 2017 PBS version of AoGG

GenX - I read a couple of the Little House books and found them kind of boring. I don't think I bothered with the AoGG books but when my sisters demanded we watch both shows, AoGG was less annoying.

GenX - I read a couple of the Little House books and found them kind of boring. I don't think I bothered with the AoGG books but when my sisters demanded we watch both shows, AoGG was less annoying.

Two cours and relative nobodies at the helm have me cautious about Anne Shirley's longevity, but it's hard to bungle source material this timeless. Better late than never for me—my ancestors are Maritimers, but I've never read it or watched prior AoGG adaptations. This was a charming first taste. ✅
