Seems that 4 monitors is not enough... Jason and Shangbang are choosing which cone on my retina to perform #AOOCT and #AOSLO #optoretinography measurements.

How 😎 is this? My lab members bought me a puzzle for my birthday...and it's an #adaptiveoptics #AOSLO image of my retina! We all worked on it today, but I got to work on the foveolar cones.

Three selfies for three ophthalmoscopes....
- Helmholtz's original handheld direct ophthalmoscope from 1850,
- adaptive optics scanning laser ophthalmoscope (AOSLO) in Jacque Duncan's lab at UCSF from the 2010's
- freshly deployed commercial #AOSLO from Robotrak.

At the heart of our adaptive optics camera is a laser engine. A beam of light scans the retina to image the eye with single cell resolution. @cvsuor.bsky.social

Most vision scientists would bet that single-cone receptive fields exist in primate fovea, but it was not proven until now.
It took years of sweat and $ to combine #AOSLO and electrophysiology. Congrats to PhD student Keaton Ramsey and his mentor Lawrence Sincich.

Indulging in some actual building today. This will ultimately be a system for splitting broadband, supercontinuum light into 5 separate spectral channels. But for today, it's just lego blocks for scientists!

Very impressive: Synchronous #eyetracking of dual-purkinje and AOSLO

(for small saccades tested only) dual purkinje finds ~two times faster velocities - as far as I can see mainly because of lense wobble

AOSLO has been around a bit, but this?! Wow! Ground truth data!

Non-uniform signal pooling across the foveola
Object recognition is impacted by visual crowding. This phenomenon, attributed to cortical pooling, is generally studied in the periphery. Crowding me…
