20/20 does not mean “perfect vision.”

You can see fine detail clearly and still have difficulty distinguishing certain colors.

Our latest article explains why visual acuity and color vision are separate abilities.

Can You Have 20/20 Vision and Still Be Color Blind?
You can have 20/20 vision and still have color vision deficiency. Learn why visual acuity and color perception measure different parts of your vision.

New paper alert! My PhD student Saija Niemi found out that short-term and longer-tern history biases are not always explained by the same underlying mechanism, as often assumed (at least for orientation judgments)! See paper for free: jov.arvojournals.org/article.aspx... #visionscience

A baby's eyes are not miniature adult eyes.

They are still growing, changing focus, and developing coordination. Mild farsightedness is often part of that process.

Our latest article explains why.

Born Farsighted? How a Baby’s Eyes Grow Into Focus
Babies often begin life mildly farsighted, but their eyes change quickly. Find out how vision develops and when farsightedness may become a concern.

Made a thing: Monical, a free keyboard-driven tool for calibrating monitors for vision science. Built it for our SSVEP work, figured other labs could use it.

Pop up a stimulus, tweak it live, read your photometer, hit S to log it.

Noisy memories should drift toward the past. We show the opposite: when the attentional blink degraded a target, its #WorkingMemory representation is pushed further away from the one before. Less attention boosts repulsive serial dependence. #visionscience
