It's 2025. Al-Qaeda is conquering West Africa. Al-Qaeda is conquering East Africa.
They coordinate between themselves, AQAP, other affiliates and AQ Central.
And I don't see any particular attention to it while those things are happening. And it makes me completely disillusioned.

Another example of conflating everything in the ME like it's some version of an AQ offshoot (in this instance specifically conflating them with AQAP in the popular mindset I suspect)

Update on this: DOD spokesman Parnell has now said that CENTCOM has struck "over 1,000 targets" in Yemen since March 15.
If that's true, CENTCOM has actually been averaging closer to 22 targets per day in Yemen than 18—about as many as the US was striking across Iraq and Syria combined in 2015-16.

I will say there have likely been US drone strikes in Yemen since 2020
They've gotten a lot more hush hush about it, but the US still maintains a presence in Yemen for counterterrorism operations against AQAP, and probably once every 6 months there's an unattributed strike that kills an AQAP leader
