Smart glasses have been on the market for at least ten years, and while they’re cool tech, they have remained a niche product. If you’re within that niche, however, Chinese company Rokid has introduced a new pair of AR / AI glasses to Kickstarter. The campaign has only been up a few days but is close to its first million. Admittedly, most of what these glasses can do, your phone does. It takes pictures! It auto-translates text! It connects to ChatGPT! It provides GPS directions! So does that thing you already own! But having the glasses on saves you the precious seconds of pulling the phone out of your pocket and selecting the right app. That does make a difference to some people…upper-class people who do a lot of traveling, mostly.
