On a snowy Sunday, February 18, 1990, ATSF SDP40F (SDF40-2) 5253 went through the crossovers in the town of Tehachappi, CA. ATSF 5253 was an EMD SDF40-2. Reportedly: it was built in 1974 builder number 74611-51, as AMTK SDP40F 630. In 1984 it became ATSF 5253. Drivers pounding, an ATSF passenger train thunders into still undeveloped Albany, hissing past the Masonic Ave Tower. Built in 1911, the Tower ensured the safety of ATSF trains and Southern Pacific interurbans.

Like can't both legends co-exist? ATSF and BN are in my top three favorite roads. No sense in trying to put the other one down, while praising the other

Idaho Northern and Pacific Railroad (INPR) 2074 was switching in the Union Pacific yard in La Grande, OR, on Monday, June 11, 2007. INPR 2074 was an EMD/ATSF GP7u. Reportedly: built as ATSF 2650 Class GP7 2876 in 1953 Builder Number 188931952. Rebuilt as GP7u ATSF 2074 in 1974, retired in 1991, in 1996 sold to INPR. Subsequently sold to Rainer Rail (CWW). Reporting marks and numbers reported for this locomotive include: ATSF 2560, ATSF 2074, INPR 2074, CWW 2074.

Reportedly: it was built in 1973 as ATSF 5663, an SD45-2, builder number 72642-20. It became SPSF painted 7203 in 1986. It was later renumbered and repainted back as ATSF 5803. It later became BNSF 6453.

My HO Model of Warbonnet Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe (ATSF) 356 was on the Tri-City Society of Model Engineers (TCSME) model railroad club in the historic Niles depot in Fremont, CA, on Friday, February 27, 2026. This is an Atlas model. The real ATSF 356 was a GE U28CG. Reportedly it was built in 1966, builder's number 35999. In 1970 it was assigned to freight service and in 1972 it was repainted in Blue and Yellow. It was retired in 1980.
