It's fine to be skeptical of this, but some folks don't understand what this information means.

It may sound silly, but oceanic freedom of navigation is predicated on "flying the flag of a sovereign state." Any ship caught flying false colors can be legally fucked with by any state's navy.

As many others have pointed out, this is how competitive authoritarian regimes operate. They don't cancel elections or ban opposition parties, they use the administrative state to hobble their opponents to the point where they can't meaningfully compete.
NEW: Attacks by Trump's team & allies on the left's infrastructure (fundraising platforms, nonprofits, law firms & donors) could undermine Democrats' ability to compete in elections.

And there's a group inside the WH working to identify more targets & vulnerabilities in the Democratic ecosystem.

For starters, you can't go wrong with the classic 'Rise of Competitive Authoritarianism' by Steve Levitsky and @lucanway.bsky.social. Opposition functions but it's like playing poker against the house. You can win but the deck is always stacked against you.

For the layman, US treasury bonds have long been the safest of safe investments, meaning when the market tanks, people start buying bonds. In these cases, the 10-year yield goes down because bonds are being bought vs sold.

If the yield goes up as the markets goes down, that is bad. Very bad.

Obviously people like this are far less influential that they appear, but I will never understand leftists who take this track. Like the left should be salivating right now. The libs are in the street like never before, just asking to be directed. This is an organizer's wet dream.

While I think there is some merit to this take, the attraction of many white progressives and leftists to a certain working class caricature is far older than twitter or social media in general.

Nor is this just a problem of the left. See the decade spent making excuses for Bill Clinton.
Graham Platner's collapse is an indictment of what Twitter has done to people's brains, and a major W for this platform and the general idea of "not spending time in Elon Musk's sandbox" slate.com/technology/2...

Polling primaries can be difficult because you have to model turnout, and it's pretty high right now

bsky.app/profile/avit...
Both this and Michigan should gas up Democrats quite a bit as both polling misses are coming on the back on some pretty insane turnout.

Like the last competitive WI dem governor primary was in 2018 (VERY pro Dem) and had 538k total votes cast. We're currently at ~440k with another 300k expected.

This wouldn't so much be touching the stove as it would be gorilla gluing both ass cheeks to the stove.

The US refines roughly 20% of all the diesel traded globally. This would crash the global economy.
Please do it, touch the stove.
