The RSV pre-fusion vaccine Abrysvo is really effective in the real world. In this new study effectiveness in the first season post-licensure, the vaccine was 92% effective in preventing severe infection defined as an ER visit or hospitalization requiring oxygen.

Oh last thing- if you're pregnant and planning to get an RSV vaccine, make sure that it is Abrysvo and not Arexvy or mRESVIA. Only Abrysvo is approved for use in pregnancy.

While we're talking about shots, I just got Abrysvo (RSV), Prevnar (pneumonia) and Jynneos (mpox) shots earlier this week. Abrysvo has just been FDA approved for people 18+ with chronic diseases (incl. obesity, diabetes, COPD, heart failure, CKD, and asthma).
