The CEO of Mastodon and the man referred to as "the father of the Fediverse" rejected a statement that Emelia (very reasonably) made (TL;DR: ActivtyPub and AT Protocol people should work together instead of fight each other.) Most people agreed: the two above yahoos didn't like it.

Cool. Look at the growth in #GhostCMS websites joining the open social web - these are new #Activtypub users. Ghost does support bridging to #Bluesky too, curious what those numbers look like.

I saw a comment from someone involved in creating ActivtyPub that basically said Bluesky just needs to adopt AP. Completely ignoring that AT Protocol actually solves problems with AP.

You know, ActivtyPub will have a place. But I don't think it will actually ever be hyper dominant. Even with the presence of Threads. Too many design decisions has made ActivityPub victim to the whims of all the little despots running servers and acting like they are god.

1000% agree with this from @jay.bsky.team ... (and via the bridge, follow her on Mastodon, too)... My only note to this thread is that since the original BlueSky launch, the ActivtyPub side of the fedi has seen much cultural change on issues like algo and search. More aligned on those now.
We built a protocol that addressed the concerns we had with ActivityPub, and now both ecosystems are free to converge and learn from each other. The fact that 3P devs are able to bridge them is great. Different protocols are not the adversaries here — the closed platform model is.
