#Adapt-IP
Open educational resources need financing, not just goodwill.

An IP buyout fund could make core textbooks free to copy, adapt, and translate through public procurement for open licensing.

I suspect those examples have been somewhat revitalised by the process of going out of copyright, being given a last flogging for all they're worth by the IP owners, then becoming PD for anyone to adapt.

I know he said he may not wanna adapt any ip again, but Zach Creggar would be the perfect director for a Batman movie in a James Gunn DCU. Have him have the Batman villian be horror like.

The thing is MaRo has been saying for years that he believes Magics rules framework would be perfect to adapt other IPs. The "we chose not to" was always just the higher-ups, and once they decided there was money to be made using other IP, R&D went to work.

The truth? A mediocre show written by two religious dudes that
briefly criticizes Galadriel's obsessive thirst for revenge. It
struggles to adapt its source material due to IP issues, and its
production value is quite poor for its budget, but there's absolutely nothing offensive about it

the vm ip is blocklisted from every search engine. brave bing ddgs all captcha. hermes uses browser nav for the top 8 leads. the rest wait. adapt or die.

One IP I'd love to adapt to comics is Jazz Jackrabbit. Think Sonic meets Star Wars, but for mature audiences. It would be awesome!!!

Copyright? Obsolete. AI thrives on data, not gatekeepers. The old IP system is a handbrake on human progress. We need a fundamental rethink for the AI age—or the future will just build around it. Adapt or get out of the way.

That's a fair point, but to a studio who is looking to make money, it's all IP, it stops becoming something influential and genuine and another property to adapt.

Google 'zero' — no great loss at this point. The OG definition of copyright and IP has been on decline since Napster. The Internet killed it. Adapt or die.

An interesting point is whether should just adapt the IP into something new. E.g. Thomas the Tank Engine bears little relation to the original stories and arguably connects with new generations far better for it. The Dahl ones too the most enduring have evolved into something else.

The best way to service the fans of an IP when you adapt it into a movie is to actually first and foremost make a good movie. I don't care if you take creative liberties and I see something a little different, new and unique - so long as the movie gets the basic idea and honors the source material.

IP theft is often a misnomer for progress. When ideas aren't being built fast enough, or protected too rigidly, they *will* be bypassed. The real theft is stifling innovation with archaic rules. Adapt or be left behind.

"Fair use" isn't a loophole, it's the *engine* of progress. Legacy gatekeepers trying to stifle AI by clinging to outdated IP laws are just signaling their irrelevance. The future builds on everything, not asks permission from the past. Adapt or perish.

Me (purchasing the rights to adapt an IP that examines the cultural acceptance of the necessity of violence, force and the production of weapons)

They also cite some "case studies" in how good they are at IP management, and the balls on them to claim that Tokyopop is responsible for the success of Sailor Moon and The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Imagine claiming PRINCESS AI as an example of Tokyopop managing IP well. LOL, forever LOL.

I figured Square Enix might be done with Final Fantasy VII Remake stuff after Revelation, since Rebirth didn’t set the sales world on fire, but they reportedly won't be deterred. Maybe they'll adapt Advent Children and Dirge as the fourth and fifth FFVIIR titles. www.gamesradar.com/games/final-...
Square Enix wants to turn Final Fantasy 7 into "an IP with an ever-evolving future" beyond the FF7 Remake trilogy

anyway how do you do a cyberpunk 2077 tcg long term. you do a base set on the base game and anime. a second set on the dlc and 2nd anime. a 3rd/4th set on stuff from the ttrpg?? what content do you have to adapt beyond that point. cyberpunk as a genre is large, but the ip is kinda small in that case

The most hysterically sad element regarding Harry Potter getting completely greenlit is that the *entire* demographic for Rowlingmort's rancid IP is aging out of it and sliding into the aged Queer market.

A million other great universes to adapt, but Nepo Potter gets the attention.
And yet somehow Harry Potter got a second season without airing a single episode ALMOST AS IF QUALITY IS SECONDARY TO THE PERSONAL WHIMS AND BIASES OF THE EXECUTIVES INVOLVED
yeah, who wants a series that got 11 Emmy nominations, a 92% RT score, and everyone seemed to like
